body shop supply is best, but you can get small strips at Radio Shack... they're everywhere!

Per Bill (rennworx.com):
"Please tell PJS996GT3 his is CF just not visual CF his is black gel coat over CF. The last one I have is built by Manthey and is CF black gel coat then painted artic silver. In Europe they paint all of threes to match the car more conservative but in the U.S. people wanted visual CF so I had some made and sold them.

If people are interested I can make more I just need to do a run of about 5 pieces and I can build them like yours."

I was thinking paint to match as well...

FYI -- My purchase exp with Bill at Rennworx was top notch.

Since I have the RS cf blade, I'm hoping the cf on this will match. Otherwise, I'll do paint.

Paint it! Naked CF for this part looks like a ricer add on... the scoop is too 'integrated' with the bodywork and needs to be colour coded! Just my $0.01...

Yeah, I hear you. I'm not into bling, but I'll test fit it with naked cf first.

But I'm still housebound from my surgery so ordered it anyway. And it's coming from about 30 miles away.

What does the CF collector do other than to ram air into the air box. Is it beneficial. I imagine it'll drag a little too.

Thanks in advance

Manthey claims 10+ hp over 120mph. I've heard 100mph as the effective speed, too. It's unlikely to be much more than bling except for the few tracks where I get to 125-135mph on straights, and that's for very short periods. There are some backroads where I can do 130+ over several miles, so will be fun there.

I would not just install this using double sided tape considering that this scoop acts like a collector and the wind speeds it will be subject to. I have this scoop and it's bolted in 3 locations in addition to the double sided tape.

Looks like I won't bother mounting it at all now. I've been recovering from ankle surgery (Jan 3), and had a doc appt today. It appears that I will not gain sufficient use of my foot that will allow me to feel comfortable taking the car on the track. I'll be able to drive OK, but have lost more flexibility and strength (already had an issue due to nerve damage caused by a long-ago back injury). Anyone want a nice cf air collector? I already prepped the bottom of it for mounting.

Ugh.... Joe that's really aggravating! Is it possible with time and steady rehab that you might do better than the doc fears?

What are you asking for the now defunct collector, btw?

Yeah, it is aggravating, but I'm 64, and have been on and off about tracking for a couple of years now. This is just the nail in the coffin. If I do regain more use, it'll be 3-4-5 years down the road. Thinking maybe a Turbo or an AM V8 Vantage might do me. Or just retain the GT3 for street use, which I view as not putting it to its proper use.
