RMS Leak Question is it a lemon?
Im not sure if this has ever been brought up but why hasn't the RMS leak been consider a defect even though Porsche says it's not? Has any one tried to fight this as a lemon or file a class action lawsuit? Just wondering?

RMS
Three failed RMS's will get you a replacement Carrera engine, which is SOP for a 911 Carrera. It's not so with the GT3. The problem is not with the case as with the Carrera, it's just the seal with the GT3. I've had two done under warranty. It's not a Lemon Law issue for me, but only a minor issue considering what this car is. I plan to keep this 911 for a very long time. As I said before, I'll live with it if it leaks again. (Additionally, I prefer to keep this German engine case, as oppose to a possible remanufactured engine with a Spanish case, if Porsche were ever to offer a replacement due to repeated RMS leaks.)

There's a slew of RMS information here Porsche RMS. Porsche seems to be dealing with the problem enough to keep away any outrage by replacing the seals and engines if need be. However, personally I wonder what the consequences of this will be longer term. For instance, I'd be weary of buying one of these models a decade now as a collector's car. Will Porsche still be as supportive as they are today? Unlikely IMO.

Three Wheelin'
seems like this problem is common with the spanish cases. it seems like it's a problem with the machining or engine cases themselves. the 996tt engines don't have this problem.

Latest on GT3 RMS leak. Mine is in for seal #5. According to the service manager, a recent update is the addition of a spacer. Mine was leaking right after break-in and then after hard driving. Last seal lasted for less then 300 mi of easy driving.

if you only have 1, 2 or even 3 RMS, i seriously doubt you will have a lemon law case.
we should start indicating milage at the time of RMS failure. i was told by factory tech that when the car is driven, RMS do not leak. I dont know if that's a fact, but that's what i was told. most of my cars have very high miles and none had RMS except a C4s that's rarely driven.
