Yes it is a vinyl wrap/foil (whichever you want to call it!). The finish is lovely: think of an ultra smooth chalkboard and you get the idea. It's been raining since I got the car home, but here is a slightly closer up version. The decals down the side were applied at the end and are in gloss black. One nice thing... no more need to wax the car
