Default Seam welded?

Gentlemen,

Are our 996 GT3s seam welded for stiffness? If so, can you tell me how to prove it to someone? Any documentation?

thanks in advance

I read some official source that says a few areas around the engine mounts (or in the rear) are seam welded... but the rest of the chassis is spot welded.

My understanding is that it is not seam welded but the spot welds are closer together. I do know that when I jack up my car 3 wheels come off the ground and when I take transitions I often have the lead wheel come off the road surface. My other P car have not done the same. Someone here might be able to explain the reason the GT3 does this.

This is from the Product Information book internal doc 12/2002
Section 5.1 Bodyshell
The new GT3 is built around a modified version of the current Carrera 4 shell. Key modifications include additional welded sections on the rear cross-member, which provide a more even distribution of loads from engine and gearbox.

you could do a frame off restoration and get it seam welded if you want.
