Oh Seth you are just adding fuel to the fire I can't run fast enough from!

My wife LOVES the cab and it would be very HARD to part with it unless of course I replace it with the new 08 Targa she had her eye on at the dealer recently. The only way to get a cup would be to sell my 3 and that will NEVER happen. If another car gets added it will be a club racer and I won't be club racing a Cup. Unless of course my little doesn't want to go to college one day

OK,OK. Bad idea. But I have another one. Just pack up the GT3 and sent it to Ruf in Germany and have them install one of their completely intergrated cages. Problem solved.

I know you think we are made of money but remember, there is NO income coming in right now as my sugga-momma isn't working and we all know my paycheck doesn't do diddly-poo for the bottom line compared to the wifey

Hey Dell, how goes it?
I'd just keep the teq bar if all you are doing is DE. A bolt in bar is about on par with a bolt in partial cage as far as I'm concerned. A fully(front/rear stuts, door bars, x bracesx2, roof bar, dash bar, etc) fabricated welded cage is the gold standard, but why bother on a street/DE car, unless you're going clubbin'? All you'll do is kill the resale imo. An all out racer is quite a different story, not sure I would (financially) gut a Gt3/~100k car to do it, just devil's advocate here....

Hey Chris! Thanks for chiming in. Haven't seen you around in some time since you went to the TT. Hope she's still treating ya well

As for the cage. I realize that the best option would be welded in but go the route of the bolt in cage then it can be 100% reversing should I ever decide to sell it which I can't imagine. And should I want to drive around town during the winter months, etc., I can "unbolt" the front cage section still leaving the rest intact.

I have no intentions of ever club racing the GT3 but the type of DE's I participate in are not the average run of the mill DE's. With the time and speeds we are running out there (pushing 160) having just the Tequipment is probably not as optimal setup. It (Teq bar) served me well up until recently when all the suspension upgrades and move to slicks was completed.

For pure roll over protection, I reckon the Teq bar is plenty for non-competitive DEs - it's been used successfully in Euro cars where you frequently top 160+ at circuits around Europe. The thing to consider is that a fuller roll cage that mounts to the suspension turrets at the rear and stronger (less flexible) mounting points such as the floor will increase the rigidity of your car. You will notice the extra rigidity on turn-in, power out, and whenever you turn the steering wheel. This, imho, is the key advantage of such a roll cage over the Teq (apart from the A-pillar rollover protection if you install the front section of a cage). I had the Teq bar before, and I was surprised at how much more rigid the car is with the CS cage fixed to the turrets and floor. The difference is noticeable from the first turn of the steering wheel at even walking speed.

Adrien, good point. It's not just protection I hope to gain from this but structural rigidity.
