Hi Zoomzoom,

HTML Code:
...it's been used successfully in Euro cars where you frequently top 160+ at circuits around Europe...
Is it so ? In REAL roll overs ? I am also considering an RS cage... I am somehow concerned with the apparent weekness ( specially at the front ) of the bolted in Teq. roll bar...

Just curious but what kind of cost are you guys talking about with bolt in roll bars (parts + labor). How mandatory/important is having one for basic DE events.

I have no idea the costs of the bolt in example since I am in the process of pricing it but the Porsche Teq Rollbar is roughly $1200. I've seen prices as low as $1000 on sale to as high as $1500.

The DAS bolt in is a couple hundred more IIRC, but not sure about the full cage option.

The bar is NOT mandatory for DE events unless you have an open cockpit car where I run (VIR). But the speeds we are running, having NOTHING is asking for the reaper to visit in the event of a rollover.

Bolt ins:
GMG is about $1500 (gmg)
Das is about $1300 (cdoc)
Teq is about $1200 I think -- did not research this one very much as I knew I did not want it

Plus freight and prep -- the das comes unpainted...

I am north of 140 mph at my de days on Pacifc Raceways in Seattle... poorly laid out track with little run off area...

As my speed, and hopefully my skill level, have increased... the need for harnesses, seats and a bar have become a self-imposed necessity... like Dell, my wife and I just had our first child so life insurance and Hans device were also purchased... (Hans at 30% off thank you!)

I have been fortunate to only experience 2 spin outs (still learning)... but have witnessed far worse... (I will leave it at that)

My thought is that you cannot be too safe...

Many people seem to have the idea that is "only" a de day so not all of the equip is neccessary... I am just not one of those people...

Take care out there... it would be a shame to seriously hurt yourself doing what you love to do...
