Default Maintenance costs on GT3

How do maintenance costs on a GT3 compare to a 911; 996 versions. Anything that is hugely more expensive on the GT3. I am strongly considering getting a 996 GT3 which I would likely track twice a year with a local club. Just wondering what to expect beyond normal brakes and tires etc. I am certain the engine parts are far more expensive on the GT3? Much more exotic engine.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I assume you mean a non-GT 911 since a GT3 is a 911.

As for costs, it is probably the same (approx) since these cars are very reliable as long as you take care of them. Oil change and some other misc items are you are good to go.

What engine parts are you referring to? The M64 motor is pretty much bulletproof and doesn't ask for replacement parts but once upon a blue moon.

Most things are stouter on the GT3 so you could probably make the case that it is marginally cheaper to keep up when street driven than a regular 996. For example, the enormous brakes last a long time on the street. The transaxle is cooled and so on. Very solid cars.

What maintenance? All I have done is oil changes and tires.

Oh, tires, yes, that will be the expense.

Front rotors and pagid pads.....$2k! Other than that, the tires and oil changes have been my only expense in 2 years (14k miles) including a bunch of track days.

Unless you run floating rotors w/ replaceable discs.... OEM or cup rotors and a set of Pagid rs19 pads for the front will cost you just a bit less than $1K.

On the general question... I also have had a pleasant lack of $ thrown toward maintenance. Oil, and tires are about it if you plan on only 2 track events per year. I've got discs and pads for the track, because the Pagid 19/25s are a bit noisy and rough on the rotors, so I choose to keep track and street sets matched... discs and pads are always bedded for each other, no matter the venue.

Well I guess the dealer soaked me on the brake job. Now that the car is out of warranty I suppose I need to find a small independent shop.

Maybe they were talking about a PCCB car if you damage or need to replace rotors. That's still an eye popper.

Regarding PCCB rotors, isn't the other option to replace with the steel ones and run the appropriate pads? Not sure if the calipers need to be changed as well.

If you choose to, you can change the rotors & pads to steel & keep the same calipers.
