Didi you check pricing stateside? The Euro is kicking our *** right now (1:1.5). I haven't bought anything from Gert in about a year because of this.

Default Cup Wheel

Dell I have a used one from the Cup. Last pro driver to use it was Sam Hornish Junior if that means anything to you. It's in good shape the suede is just a bit smoother than new. 150 bucks for it. I have a new hub that you will need as well 50 bucks. Then all you need is the Quick release. I'd just get the Snap Off one from TC racing. I think I paid 175 for that in my 993 tt.

I did not check around the USA as Gert's customer service was great... I emailed him about several items and he was very responsive and informative.

I would feel like a dick to have asked all of the questions I asked, soaking up his time, only to go buy it from someone else for $100 less.

I am in sales and people do that to me all the time and I cannot stand it, so I do not do that in my personal life.

2.8 ohm resistor - wired directly across the two wires that run to the airbag.

If you remove the airbag with the battery disconnected or do not turn on the ignition during install of the wheel and the resistor, the system will be fooled into thinking the airbag is still there.

If you already have the warning light on then after you install the resistor you will need to reset the warning light with the duametric diagnostic software or visit a dealer/good indie.

Default QUESTION

now the bag is removed, but the canister of compressed air (or whatever that blows up the bag) and the sensors are still in the car. in the god forbidden event, should the car kiss a wall, what will happen to the sensor/compressed air? anything blows up?

if i ever decide to revert to oem wheel and bag, is this reversal easy to do?

thanx.

The airbag is fully contained inside the steering wheel. The only thing connecting it to the car is a pair of wires. Once the steering wheel is removed there is nothing to blow up.

I did the RS steering wheel swap by myself. Easy to do and I got to handle the airbag unit. Just disconnect the battery if you do anything there.

Where is your horn button? I dont see a spring contact plate .In N.Y. and most other states you need a horn. How do you get around that for state inspections for street use as i see your car has lic plates?

In my little bit of research, with a quick release, you run a seperate wire with a connector (there is a picture of this in another thread that I cannot find)... and to the horn button... looks smarmy etc.. but would get you passed the inspection.

so to QR you undo the horn wire and then release the steering wheel... ?

this seems like a total pain in the *** to me -- the whole point of a QR is to actually be quick and easy...

I am thinking no horn... or run a wire to a seperate switch somewhere...

Don't need no stinkin' horn.

99% track use. No annual state inspections. No provincial ones either.
