Was wondering if anyone knows about rear air scoops for the 6-GT3 ... like the ones that come standard on the 7-GT3 (under the rear spoiler)? Is there a source for these? Do any of you use them? Someone suggested that the 7-GT3 part would fit fine??? Anyone?

Yes. That's a question I had as well. Is the engine cover all carbon fiber? There would be no problem fitting the CF wing to engine cover would there? Price and source?

Yah ... sort of ... I'm new to this car ... read some about that 6-GT3RS single piece scoop ... and that's surely an option for me (any sources? FVD?) ... but someone today said they heard (I know ... lame hearsay) ... that the 7-GT3 double hump looking scoops might work on the 6-GT3 too?

I believe that a number of people has this air scoop installed on their 6-GT3, including myself. Michael B. posted a great picture of the air scoop. As for your question about whether or not the part from 7-GT3 would fit, I don't think it would fit but perhaps someone else could confirm this.

You can get the replica 996 GT3RS scoop form quite a few tuners. I had ordered one from FVD last year but had to return it because I felt the fit was terrible. It wasn't until this year that I found out about Manthey Motors that I began to look into them. The nice thing about the Manthey one is that it's made from carbon fibre therefore much lighter then a unit made from fibreglass.

I don't know what advantage you would have with the 997 configuration though. I thought the reason why the 997 GT3s have two separate scoops is because the right one feeds the airbox while the left one is for engine cooling, but don't quote me on this.

Man ... if someone could fab up some 7-GT3 double hump looking scoops for the 6-GT3 ... I'd be first in line ... like Rosie O'Donnell to a conspiracy theory ... or a big fat Vegas buffet.

I'll get the 6-GT3RS single scoop style for now ... if I must ... (perhaps a carbon fiber version with a carbon fiber rear RS spoiler) ... but will not stop looking for a double piece version ... simply makes me like a damn baby.
