Default Need wheels for new (to me) 04 GT3

Well the deal is done and I should have my new baby next week. So now down the slippery mod slope. Called wheel enhancement looking for a set of track wheels in black. They really had nothing stock, everything was special order and very expensive. They suggested Champion RG5 in standard finish as a cost effective solution and those are $3800 for the set. Any thoughts or comments on where to source wheels or what to get? TIA

I've got the RG5's and am very happy with them. Picked them up used and the previous owner had the centers powdercoated black, which looks great.

Another option: CCW makes a cheaper set of wheels. I have the 1-piece C14 and they offer those in anodized black (from $2600/set). They also have the cheaper "Classics" which is a 3-piece wheel from $2200/set.

+1 on the CCWs. Have them for the GT3, and used them for many years on my near-400 hp RX-7.

thank you all. After researching this it seems Wheel Dynamics has the lowest price for the GT3. They sell a complete set for $1499 in standard finish and also offer them painted for an additional $300 per set. They will supply the wheels with tires at the tire rack price and include mounting and balancing for no charge. I grilled the guy about safety and he swears they've sold a ton of these wheels and have never had a wheel fail on the track, some have bent due to street pot holes. The weight of the wheels is 25 front and 30 rear which he claims is just around factory wheel weight. So I am inclined to go ahead with these unless anyone thinks it's a mistake. My friend tells me that at an amateur driving level (certainly applies to me) the wheel weight is not an issue.

Those wheel dynamics wheels are NOT something I would rec'd for the track. You will be able to feel the difference. Remember, this is unsprung "spinning" weight and that is something you want LESS of.

Further, you have NO idea what the reliability is of these suckers on the track. He will tell you ANYTHING to sell you a set of wheels. How does he know about the reliability of these on the track under stress? I haven't heard of anybody here using them on the track. That should tell you something. Probably A great inexpensive wheel for a winter wheel or a "beater" wheel for DD duties.

For $2K you can get a REAL set of OEM wheels. I bought a set and then paid something like $400 to get them painted black for the track. I am probably selling them real soon.

My suggestion is to do on of the following 3 options if your budget is of concern:
1. Used OEM for $2-2.5K
2. CCW for $2.6K
3. Volk for $2.4K (tire rack on sale right now)

Holy crap I didn't realize the weight difference on the Volk wheels vs. Wheel Dynamics. 10lbs lighter per rear wheel and 6lbs for each front wheel.

i dont get it, why there are so many questions on wheels.
if you have a budget, buy one of these three, ccw, volks, jong bloed or OEM, period, done.
if you have no budgetary concerns, get bbs motorsport wheels with alum center, fikse
or spend obscene amount of time finding something that may or may not compared with these.

I have been kicking the idea of new wheels around for a while. I like the Volk's and the CCW C14's.

Does anybody have a pic of the Volk's on their car?
