How involved is compression test on '04 GT3
I am in the process of selling my GT3. The buyer asked for a pre-purchase inspection (which I agree with) but wants a compression test. I started looking at the engine to see what the mechanic would have to do to get to the spark plugs and it looks like there may be a lot of dissasembly to get to the spark plugs. Is it a major job to do a compression check and is this standard procedure for a pre-inspection on a car w/ 3,800 miles which has never had anything done except routine maintainence and is still under warranty?

Sounds like an overkill to do a compression test on a 3800-mile car that has full factory warranty...

Thanks for your comments but the buyer is fine with paying for the inspection and I am fine with the inspection. I was just wondering how involved a compression test on a GT3 is. I would have it done (not at all planing to do this myself). If anyone can let me know I would appreciate it. TIA

Make sure you get a leakdown test - static compression test is not very useful

You can test while engine has been warmed; not hot.
Take out all plugs.
Use a gauge where the needle stays at highest reading, use a threaded gauge with long hose with preassure relese; IE spend the money here.
Crank it over with fully charged battery 4 times for consistancy, About 2 secs.
Leak down only if problem comes up and should be done by dealer.

It's SOP - and has been forever - to get leakdown and comp when buying a 993. I would think it is a reasonable thing to ask for. Obviously, completely at buyer's expense, and if they then pass on the car, the report should be yours to keep.
