Thinking of putting vents on my rear bumper. Sorta like 997 GT3. Any advice?

I was looking at a 996 GT3 the other day with a deformed rear bumper. Looked like it had gotten a bit hot and sagged a bit in the middle. Can't be a good thing...

The ebay one is hideous with that horrible bubble/bolt on look from the sides. The one above is better although still a little incongruous on the car I think. The one above has had to change to the 997 lights by the look of it though which won't help the price!

Bump for the 5yo thread. ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Anybody with rear vents on a 6 bumper? Am I gonna be the RL guinea pig (again)?
Actually, I want to cut the lower rear portion of the bumper and expose the (placed in the lower side on my setup) HJS catalytic converters. They get super hot! I will also install the self adhesive insulation from the 996 cup bumper and throw away the stock lower stripe and middle shield.
But while I am doing it, why not create the side outlet openings. They are std practice in all GT cars for some time now, and I have seen a few 6 GT3 in Germany running like that. (look first page pics)..
According to the technical literature and in theory, they should help with the thermal ventilation of the side mufflers (I have no problem there with this pair, might use a quieter / larger version later) and they will also improve the dissipation of heat from the engine compartment.
Aerodynamic wise they do lower the pressure on the rear bumper and rear inside wheel area and should improve the air flow around the back.
Now that I am done convincing myself ..
What say you?
And here is the mandatory pic of how the rear bumper will look after I remove the lower part.. RSRish
