Thinking of putting vents on my rear bumper. Sorta like 997 GT3. Any advice?

By the way, my rear bumper is melted on the same spot where the 996TT vents are located.
This problem happens to the 996 GT3 only. I have checked the engine compartment temperatures after a track session against a 996TT and a 996 Carrera. The GT3 gets scary hot, but the dashboard gauge reads normal.

Where do I buy a straight pipes? I've been looking at some pictures and seems pretty simple pipes. Can I just ask muffler shop to custom made for me to save some $$$?

Is there any hope for bypass pipes passing sound checks at places like laguna?
If not, could it be hoped that bumper vents plus a lighter more freely flowing exhaust like cargraphic would help the heat issue? I mean the sport cats shouldn't generate nearly as much heat.

The same might be true of many aftermarket exhausts.

just thinking about it the test you did makes sense. Since the GT3 motor is basically a Cup motor it is a higher output motor than the C4s or TT motor and thus the temps are higher.
You can see on mine how the vents are right over the mufflers. This should work on a 996 but isnt the 7 a tad wider?

997 Vents are huge in person than in the pictures. I really want my car's engine compartment to be cool. Hope it's not a bad thing. If I could I would even put vents inside the rear wheel well behind the wheels. Just for better air flow ventilation.

Ceramic coating the headers as well as some of the exhaust piping will result in a significant reduction in heat being transfered to the engine bay. I'm refering to real plasma applied ceramic, not that aluminized paint commonly refered to as "ceramic". The cost is comparitivly reasonable. And will last almost forever. I did mine 3 years ago and still looks like new.
