I'm trying to replace the ashtry with a non-smoker piece. I was able to remove almost everything except the following two plugs in the picture below. My question is how does the plug come off? Do I just pull hard on the plactic plug or elsewhere? I thought I should consult you guys before I break something. Any help will be appreciated.

 

If you are referring to the window switch plugs that just come off with a little force from the pins that they are attached to under the window switch itself. Just pull straight off (not an an angle). I usually pull from both sides (longways) of the harness and use my other hand to hold the assemble in place while pulling.

 

the wired portion, as Dell stated, comes STRAIGHT out.

if you are wondering how to get the actual toggle switch (black plastic oval your fingers push to control the windows), use A LOT OF FORCE to push it out.
