Had to use that title cause it's funny!!!
After reading the topic about the peb boys muffler bypass pipes, I went to the closest store and bought:
2pcs 90-degree elbows, 2" diameter
2pcs "rice-rocket" exhaust tips
Total cost $79.90
Took me about an hour from start to finish!
The car sounds nuts now! I actually like how loud it and I don't think it's too loud at all.
You can sneak around with carefull throttle modulation but once you open her up...DAMN!!!!
Only downside is the somewhat ricey look and the fact that I can't hear the wonderfull engine note anymore.
I will try this on now for some time and If I decide I want to keep it this way, I will have a shop make me "real" ones from mandrel bent pipes and will try to incorporate the stock tips as well...
Here's some photos and a short video clip:

Glad to you liked the thread title play on words
My suggestions with this "Pep Boys" mod would be that it is great to try out to see if you like it and if you do invest in the proper bypass pipes. Less than $80 and a great trial period. Maybe your set can be the "pass around the GT3 board" set?
You can't leave those on though with the total rice look of those silver wiring loom pipes

Like I said, I'm gonna try these now for couple of days and if I like em, then I'll just a have a shop make me ones like the fabspeed's are but with stock tips.

Hey, now that you mentioned it, I definately noticed the same effect...
At first I thought it was just the feeling (lot of noise and nothing happengin) but it seems to be true...
I wonder how much it is on paper but it's definately noticeable while driving!
Hmm... I like sound but I'm not ready to sacrifice performance over it!
Why are the CUP cars running this same setup? Is it because what you loose down low, you gain big time up in the rev band and CUP cars don't need that much low end grunt as they're ment to be driven in the higher rpm range...

I had a friend give it a test drive before/after the mod as a second opinion.. he felt it too.. stating that the car felt dead without mufflers.... So.. I am in your boat as I don't want to sacrfice performance.... and the noise did get annoying after a while.... Im thinking of maybe Fabspeed mufflers to get a bit more noise and retain that torque...
Im not an expert on CUP cars by any means but less weight and a bit more HP up high could make a good reason.

I had the Pep Boys pipes for a couple of track events. Put the mufflers back on when I was stopped by the police a block from my house on the way back from the track. I did happen to punch the throttle a few blocks earlier, but there was no chance that the policeman clocked me. The noise probably woke him and he felt compelled to check my license and registration. I felt like I was 16 again.

Trust me, there IS a difference between the rice pipes and the real pipes.
