I do not believe one can buy a C6R. What you saw might be a mule that tests various components for the team. Did you see any onboard telemetry?

well, I don't know that much about vettes...at this point, from yours and Supersparker's info I'm thinking it was a C6 ZO6 that the owner put some R parts on and added the badging himself...(not that far fetched now that I have seen a Boxter with GT3 badging) makes the most sence if you can't purchase one...didn't see any telemetry but didn't get that close to the interior...thanks for the education

On the subject of rotor cracking; when they go I'd put on undrilled or slotted rotors.Or take them off now if in good shape to restore when car is sold. There is NO performance advantage to drilled rotors and only cause problems as described here.
I hate to say this but they are for show. And service department profitabliity.

My front rotors of my '05 GT3 warpped after the first session of the first track weekend...

That is why I replaced them with slotted right away... soooo.. it is completely "normal".

Cheers...

Warped? That is damn near impossible. I assume you are referring to uneven pad material deposits around the rotor???

If I was going fast, I had to brake hard, right?

Nope, warped. What was really odd was that the right front rotor showed small cracks around the perforations but the left one warped. You could feel the right front slilghtly pulling to the right under heavy braking... that is why I took the car to the shop in the track to have the brakes checked.... it was interesting.

Since I was planning on replacing both front rotors with two-pieces I wrote it off like an "usual problem in porsches" and moved on... since that was my experience with my 996 C2 too (perforation cracks, not warped).

Maybe it was my driving... I have been known to break things easily...

Well, I got smacked for doing that once at the Porsche Driving Experience by one of the instructors so I swore to myself I would never make that mistake again...

I have to say even with 2 piece slotted rotors I was amazed they crack too- must be a GT3 trait. I can understand cross drilled but slotted- car is way too fast : ). Mike

Sad to say when the next sequential comes to the next gen GT3 we're going to get very aggressive traction control to ward off our bad behavior at the track and it can't be turned off-PERIOD!!!. Mite as well give our race tracks the kinda rails Disney gives us with their rides : (. Mike

I tracked my 996 cab extensively with R-comps and RS 4-4 on OEM rotors... zero cracks.

I tracked the GT3 one time bone stock on street tires and had micro cracks starting to show their ugly heads!

It must be related to p*ss poor ventilation related to the nose on the 996 GT3 street car... either that or I'm just BLAZING SUPER FAST!

Interestingly, I have looked at Cup car brakes at the track and their rotors don't look as crack stressed. Much faster car with better ventilation.
