Default 996 Clubsport/RS help

Anyone with a 996 GT3 Clubsport or 996 GT3RS show a photo of the factory front roll bar across the windshield and how the clubsport/rs visors are positioned when the front bars are installed. It appears that the special clubsport/rs visors with the flap end SHOULD allow the bars to be installed and pin the visor above the bars in the up position. If the visors are positioned forward against the windshield instead of above then why the special visor used with the bars? When I install the front bars and pin the clubsport/rs visors above the bars, the visors are smashed and push into the headliner. What am I missing, is this what other clubsport/rs owner are seeing with the front bars installed? Again why the special visors for the cars with the front cage.

Thanks

The visors on my clubsport were totally removed when the factory installed the front part of the roll bar. I now have useless visors in the trunk.

Did you order your clubsport new? Do all clubsport have the front bar installed from the factory? Do you have holes in the headliner were the visor mounted or do you have some special plugs-covers?

Thankyou so much for your help.

Yes, my car is a factory clubsport. However, to meet DOT requirements here in Taiwan, the front part of the roll cage can only and had to be installed after the car arrived at the dealer. As for the holes in the headliner, I'll have to check tonight when I get home and get back to you.

Sound like the dealer installed the front cage, then I wonder if they had the same issue and removed the visors. Please do take a look and see if they holes are plugged or just what. If Porshe intended for the visor to be removed with the bar, then why the special visor for the clubsport-rs cars?

The visors need to go if you want to install the front section.

There is no such thing as a special clubsport visor, that special visor would be NO visor as said previously.

Sorry you are mistaken. Please forward me your email address and I will send you the PDF to the Parts manual and send you photos. The clubsport has the 60mm flap on the outside edge the standard car does not. The standard car visor is straight all the way across.

Yes those are the ones, the M274 denotes illuminated mirror, and the M003 is for club sport/RS.

I checked my car and there are no plugs to the holes where the visors once were. So does this mean my dealer owes me the clubsport visors?

The visors DO work with the cage if you put it in a standard 996. They just fit in place and to use them, you unclip, rotate up slightly, then down past the clip and then fold around. Kind of hard to explain, but once you figure it out, they work fine. I checked the pics I had from when the cage was in my car, but there are no good details shots of the visors.

Yes thanks you can leave the visors in place pushed against the window, but if this was the intent, Porsche did not need the clubsport visor. Iam trying to figure out what in the hell Porsche was thinking with this visor, it is the same as the stock visor, except a little longer and the last couple inches are hinged to move separate from the rest of the visor. It appears at though you SHOULD be able to put in the front cage in place without taken the visors out, just pinning them in place against the head liner.

If Porsche expected you to take them out then why the special visor??? If Porsche expected you to use the standard visor pushed against the window forward, again why the special visor??????

I figured it out. The FACTORY Porsche bolt in cage is defective. The cross bar that is welded to the drivers side and bolts to the passenger side that runs across the front of the window is located nearly 3 inches more forward than it should be. Everything else is perfectly positioned in the car except this bar. WTF happened, obviously the supplier to Porsche has a bad batch out there. I finally found this picture of an RS which has the same front bars which confirmed my suspicions and confirmed what I thought the special Clubsport-RS visors are intended for.
