Ray,
I spoke with a Corvette WC team and the had very good things to say on the wicker, it gains alot of rear end grip. They have an extreme angle just short of 90 deg and it's not very tall, the new RS carbon wing has a little bit of this kind of lip with a smaller angle.
I am interested if you get one made...and yes the throttle response as well.

Has anyone tried adding vortex fins at the top of the rear window, where it meets the roof, perhaps integrated in a roof spoiler? A Swedish tuner (ITS FUN) is currently involved in a project with a monster 930 and claim that vortex fins generate an improved flow of air directed towards the rear wing. I don't know much about aerodynamics and this speculation from me is based on comments from the guys at ITS FUN.

Ciao,

J.

definitly some interesting stuff..but i believe the angle of the roofline of the Scoobie would create some turbulence, whereas the 996 has a very smooth roofline than slopes far more progresssivly towards the rear...the sloping begins just after the sunroof, as opposed to comming down sharply like a sedan.

The effect of the Vortex fins were already done by Porsche on the GT3: namely the gurney strip on the back of the Mk1 and the 997GT3. For some reason they never applied it to the Mk2.

I've found a local CF fabricator to make a Gurney strip to my specs. Don't know details but was wondering if there might be any interest here in one. I'll repost as info becomes available.

The gurney strip is so small and light, surely it's more cost effective to have it made in GRP? Weight wise, you're talking grams! The gurney strip is just glued to the body (I just removed mine and will refix it to the new engine lid)

Does the new wing have the same profile as the Mk.1 wing or will fitting the gurney make it look @%$#&?

I don't think Ray is talking about the piece that goes behind the intake vent on the lid, what we were talking about is an attachment to the wing, extending it with more angle, it's what cargraphic is selling.

I'm moving to the RS wing (Manthey version) with the carbon engine lid and will retrofit the gurney strip as it has an almost identical curve on the trailing edge. The gurney itself is quite flexible and can be adjusted slightly.
