3.8L Kit for GT3s?
Hey guys.. just a quick question, we rebuild/build up 996TT/GT2 engines to all sorts of crazy levels here but recently we've had the opportunity to do a one off 3.8L motor build on a GT3 as well. Bearing in mind that it turns out well (it has on the 996TT etc..), we have made up some 3.8L pistons, plasma coated liners etc.. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in it? Depending on where we go with this thus far for pistons, liners, rings, clips etc.. it's in the 4.5K price range. Then there's our/your motor build on the top which can obviously vary (and get expensive). For the turbo guys that want big power/less lag this has made some sense but I'm pretty interested to see what happens here with this one. Obviously in Europe that's been going on for a while and at this stage we may also do a bunch of other tricks, knife edge the crank, boat tailing etc... Anyways I'll post pix of the project as it gets under way but I thought I'd throw it out there

Alex, my car has 31k miles. Last year I requested a compression leak test, and all 6 holes where even. My expectation is to get 80k to 100k miles before a rebuild.
I doubt there is a street 996 GT3 engine being rebuilt due to age.

hey nj-gt, you are _absolutely_ correct and this is something more future-proof that we have in mind. For the guys that will have these cars for ages and someday need some spring cleaning we'll be there. My reference to the 50K etc... was to cars that are tracked over and over and over again and more track than street. Around the bay area we have like 5 tracks that people are addicted to and couple that with some serious abuse (the odd mis-shift and other mishap) and you see where I'm going... The GT3 motor of all the 996s is likely the one to last the longest. We abuse the TT's way more but those aren't far behind
