Ford GT trade for GT3?
Just thought I'd throw this out here for the collectors' consideration:
I have a new 06 Ford GT in Heritage Colors. One of 5 built with a Gurney bubble from the factory. 500 miles. All options. As new with plastic still on it.
Looking for a nice 996 GT3 and cabbage.

Oh Bruce...
I thought the Ford GT would be enough to stamp out your GT3 obsession (knowing your a Ford guy & all).
But then again, GT3's are pretty darn cool.

Those things are kind of heavy.
Weight (lb) 3489
I have yet to see one at the track, and yet I am still enthralled by that car.
The chassis is well built, but I don't know who would set it up and keep it track worthy. Don't you want to go flog that thing?
My GT3 is well under 3000 lbs.
I agree you need a nice 996 GT3.
Current Setup:
MPSC
RS Flywheel/Clutch
Brembo Floating Rotors
Cup Brake Ducts
Schatz Alignment
Tarret Toe Links
GT3 Seats Cloth
Tequipment Roll Bar
Center Console Delete

Bruce is truly a track guy.
I think he knows that a GT3 is a hard to beat track car, and it makes more sense to track beat on a GT3 as it is of course considerably less expensive than a Heritage GT.
However... I know he could have both... His wife (a fabulous lady if I may say so myself) must be the voice of reason. Hey, whatever she says would be just fine by me Bruce. You tell her I said so.

Both cars are great. But, if I had to choose... it would be the FGT.
My detail guy has pics of both of my cars on his web site. For anyone who is interested... here they are:
2006 Ford GT
2005 Porsche GT3

The car is phenomenal. And I'm saying that as someone who wasn't even looking for one. One drive in a FGT and it was over - I had to have it. Proportions that beckon you to the garage with a glass of wine at night just to look at it. Etc.
However, there's something to be said for the overhead. Frankly, I'd prefer to have both a GT3, the FGT, and a full race schedule this year but that ain't happening. That's all.
Bruce
edit:
I own both cars.
I have a 2006 Ford GT and a 2005 GT3. Both cars are fun. But, if I could only keep one... I would keep the Ford GT.
Just my opinion...

Michael has me pegged - I simply would feel more comfortable flogging a used GT3. If something happened to this car on the track, I would have a very bad day. Yes, I could walk away from it, but it sure would hurt. A GT3 would hurt too -- about 1/2 as much though!
I currently have a car that's unmolested, not broken it yet, has **** on the tires, etc. It's still new, so now is the time to move to what I really need. Oh, the wife actually likes it, but feels the cash may broaden our career opportunities in case we need it. Yeah, the voice of reason
So, I'm going to make a fair effort to make the move. If it doesn't happen, it wasn't meant to be, and that's that. Believe me, every time I go to the garage, I'm thinkin to myself, "why would I sell that?"

Thank you for posting those pictures of that gorgeous machine.
I feel your pain, but agree with your reasoning.
IMO, that no-mileage 1-of-5 Gurney-Bubble Heritage-colors FGT needs to be the crown jewel of a pampered museum-quality collection, while either a GT3 or an ordinary (perhaps I should say less-extrordinary?) FGT should be flogged mercilessly around the track.

you guys are great - I've always been a proponent of "buy more than you can afford and you'll figure out a way to pay for it . . ."
It's a motivator
I missed a couple, rejected a couple, but without a doubt, the GT3 will be the next addition.
