That's the setup I have, and the 996 tequip bar fits just fine in my 997:

How much to ship a set? :-)
Is there no gray market for tires?

There must be some country that they sell them in with advantageous exchange rates vs the $US where we could have a bunch shipped. I'd be in for a set. Group buy?

I've found the second set (tires/wheels) is the only way to go if you drive your car to the track. Usually a quick online post or calling from a list of friends who tow to the track, will enable an occasional transportation method for your track set in trade for dinner or lunch. Sounds like it comes down to knowing your fellow enthusiasts.

Now, as a completely shameless plug, please feel welcome to call for info on our GT3 Tire/Wheel Packages for all the favorites:

Fikse Profil Series + Hoosier R6 ... or Michelin IMSA Cup Slick

Jongbloed 305/311 Aero + Hoosier R6 ... or Michelin IMSA Cup Slick

BBS Race New Style DE/Street + Hoosier R6 ... or Michelin IMSA Cup Slick

BBS Race New Style Compeition + Hoosier R6 ... or Michelin IMSA Cup Slick

TRG tire/wheel packs ship mounted, balanced, racer taped, nitrogen (or compressed air filled) and starting at $4880. If necessary, we can, have and will drop ship to your track. At least we can help get them there the first time.

Ha. How about when they offer to buy then the dinner/lunch turns out to be free anyway, that's a good one too.

Hey Mooty, BBS is working on it, more info tomorrow. For your car and set up, Michelin slicks might be an option. The package deal from TRG works in your favor for both Hoosier and Michelin.

ok let me know how it works out. i NEED to know how the wheels are serviced and where. i bend them on weekly basis. if they can't turn them around very quickly, i have no interest in them.

slicks... yes, i love them. you provide free trailer support, i will buy all my slicks from TRG.

for the 997's OEM 19" wheels, what offerings are there besides the MPSC that is gonna be a good track tire? Do most all you guys move to 18" wheels just because the options for tires opens up at that point?

Also, then for GT3 drivers in SS for stock class SCCA autocrossing, do you have factory optioned 18" wheels, or did the 996 GT3 come with 18" wheels?

How are you bending the rims? As they get wider with smaller sidewalls it's pretty easy to bend them on the inside but I haven't had much trouble.

Curb and off road excursions?

1. None as of yet. Pirelli corsa comes in OEM 360 CS sizes, which don't fit the 997 properly (225 front, 285 rear, incorrect profiles). There are no other 19" r-comps that I know of, and I've scoured the market pretty thoroughly. I would love to be proven wrong, though. That said, I did see a photo of a Hoosier dot r-comp in like 305/35-19 (fits viper or vette I'd guess?) awhile ago, but I don't remember if it hit production.

2. Not many 997 people are going to r-comps. I've already bent an OEM 19 on my car (2000 miles). The proper way to go, in my mind, is to get a set of 18s for the track. Obviously OEM 997 18s are an option, but the 10" rear isn't ideal for a 295 or 305. See Fikse, Kinesis, CCW, or Champion for a custom fitment. I plan on sticking [no pun intended] with 19" PSCs; they're expensive but ideal for my use.
