Default camera rattle

I just got a Sony Handycam DCR-HC96. Vibrations from the car (BK roll bar mount) cause a rattle in the camera which is very noticeable and annoying on the audio playback.

I can duplicate the rattle just holding the camera in my hand and shaking it. It is an internal rattle -- it is not the battery or other external plastic bits. It does it with or without the tape, so it is not the cassette.

Questions: is this normal? Can the rattle be isolated and eliminated?

Thanks, Andy

I use the DCR-HC96 with an I/O port mount... it's flawless with no rattles in the mount or the camera.

It sounds like a warranty issue to me.

Well, you may have gottlen lucky. When I went to the dealer, we shook another identical camera and it rattled also -- the sales guy said it is the magnets used for the zoom lens.

Anyway, ended up buying a boom mic. Hope this solves or at least mitigates the problem.
