Default factory collection

What does it cost?
What do you get?
If you did it, was it worth it?

thanks

I think it's a $1200 option for PCNA customers. I am pretty sure that doesnt include your hotel stay and meals and other travel expenses.

I did it but lucked out because being a resident in Germany for the time being factory delivery is free or for me at least it was. For me it was well worth it being this is my first ever Porsche and what better way to begin my Porsche experience than picking it up at it's birth place and then driving her home to it's garage?!

It included a tour and nice meal in the restaraunt over looking the Porsche platz and main dealership. There was a group of about 20 people ahead of my tour and they were the "Spring Grand Tour" guests from the US picking up their cars and enjoying everything Porsche. Their tour was more indepth than a basic factory tour/delivery as they got to see such things as the customer special order department and leather shops as well as a visit to the test track.

There are only two "grand" tours every year one spring and one fall.

Hope my tidbit of info helps out.

It appears Porsche doesn't offer ED for the GT3. At least, it doesn't appear on the GT3 configurator. For other Porsches, Porsche charges $2250!

By way of comparison, we took Euro delivery on a new M-B E320 CDI two years ago. M-B:
-Discounted the car a net 8%
-Gave us a night at a 4-star hotel in Stuttgart
-Gave us taxi vouchers for trips from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the delivery location.
-Licensed and insured the car during our 10-day stay and shipped the car back to our dealer
-Gave us a factory tour and dinner at the M-B customer center where the car was delivered
-Loaned us a Euro DVD for the navigation system while we were there
-Made hotel and flight reservations for us at substantially lower prices than I could find on my own.

We did day trips in the Stuttgart area to get break-in miles on the car, then headed for Mulhouse, France and the Bugatti museum there at 125 mph on the Autobahn.

This was a magical trip, and we were treated like royalty. I was very disappointed to see that Porsche charges its customers for an experience that's a money-saver with M-B!!

Tourist Delivery Prices
911 GT3 $4,075
Turbo Coupe $4,075
Carrera Coupe, Cayman $2,250
Boxster S $1,150

You get a nights stay at the Graf Zepplin hotel in Stuttgart.
A lunch at the Casino restaurant at the factory.
A Factory Tour
Vist to Museum
Two weeks Tourist Insurance.

BTW You must post a refundable (with interest) bond of $10K (for carrera)

A far better value is:
The Porsche Club of America-endorsed Spring TREFFEN for PCA members
A new model factory PORSCHE is included in the trip price and is yours to drive for 3 days -
You will enjoy 5 nights in the finest deluxe hotels in Europe; 5 delightful breakfasts; 4 delicious luncheons; 5 spectacular dinners & banquets; 3 cocktail parties; and several special excursions and events. Of course, not only are these meals included, but also champagne, wine and beer flow freely.
visit the PORSCHE factory in Zuffenhausen; the new PORSCHE Factory model dealership and the exclusive PORSCHE “Special Order” Department where you can see some unbelievable custom work done, and see the Classic Restoration Department (Werk 1). If no "secret" project is being tested, we will depart for the nearby Weissach R&D center after lunch for "Hot Laps" with a professional driver at the test track.

$3,959 per person

Did one last year...highly recommended

That's one of the most blatant price-gouging examples I've seen.

Ah yes it was the PCA guys doing their Spring Treffen while I was picking up my car. Sounds like a nice time but that is a lot of cash money, for me at least eh I get to drive my P-car on the German roads for the next two years so I am happy with that.

3 of about 10 PCA cars ready for the road

Happiest automotive experience of my life...so far

I did factory delivery of my '04 GT3 (first US car) and it was great. The actual delivery process is low key and you get a nice lunch and tour at the factory but the highlight is driving the car in Europe. I spent a week touring around and a week at the Nurburgring with my car and even managed a top speed run on the autobahn. Priceless.
