Default RS19 will be replaced by RS29

Spoke with Pagid distributor,

RS19 (the whole series) will be discontinued.
RS29 is expected to replace them.

Not all RS19 dimensions are available as RS29 yet, but the 2707 and 2405 are as you know already.

This is what he told me. He could have been stoned, but I think it sounds reasonable. Perhaps even old news..

I've been switching back and forth depending on what's available, I'm happy with either. For some reason, the RS-29 front pad is much thinner than the RS-19, but they last well and don't seem to transfer more heat to the fluid than the 19. It's pretty confusing trying to figure out what Pagid is doing, did they make an official announcement by any chance?

Called my parts guy first and heared it from him. After that I called the official Pagid distributor and he confirmed it. Still, it is yet to be proven.

Bruce,
Nothing official what I have read.

Regarding the thinner RS-29. I have not noticed it, but here is something from an old thread:

By mistake and only for a (short) while the factory in Germany made 2707RS29 with anti noise shims and consequently a little thinner.

Plus Porsche has changed the drawing for the 2707. It used to be in the beginning 16.5mm and is now 18mm.

We make also some special RS19 and RS29 pads in 20mm for the 24h race in Daytona.

I sell a TON of Pagids for GT3s here at Rennstore - 99% RS19 and 1% RS29.

I am checking on this to get a definitive answer....stay tuned!

OK, here is THE WORD FORM PAGID on RS29s replacing the RS19 - and I have a vested ($$$$$) interest in which pad to stock here at Rennstore:

"Absolutely, positively NOT TRUE. The jury is out on whether the RS29 is indeed an improvement for some cars & therefore has NOT been superceded. The RS29 we still are keeping mostly for Pro racers since it is not available in all shapes yet. SOME pads are being made only in RS29's as a new item, so perhaps that is where this rumor is coming from..."

Hope this helps.

Thanx for looking it up!
I was a bit doubtful to what he said to me.

I don't think anyway you're going to have a problem selling those RS19. Since they are proven and works nice.

Oh, not a problem. Glad to help.

It had me worried for a bit!
I have about 30 sets of 2707/2405 RS19s in stock......and 1 set of RS29s
I'd hate to be surprised with that amt of $$$$ in product -

I, too, can confirm that the rumour is false. Here is what I was advised by Pagid USA:

"This web post was wrong, we will definitely continue with the RS19, especially for all Porsche applications. There are too many people who like the 19s better. However mainly because they experience lock up problems with the RS29 due to the higher initial bite. We discontinue RS19s with a few BMW applications and a few front wheel drive applications."

Exactly. The pro teams think the 29s can be too 'grabby'
