Default Roll bars: Problem with state inspection?

For those of you with roll bars, have you been having any issues getting your state inspection done?

Anyone 'fail' an inspection due to DOT regulations with respect to the roll bar?

Cheers

I just got mine done (inspection) by our local Porsche indy. I doubt I would be declined for the bar. Do you have a good shop that you use for your indy work? Maybe even your dealer?

Dell,

I was contemplating my next move on safety gear. I'm trying to size up the hassle factor as my car continues to become less streetable...

If the local dealer isn't with it, then I'll probably have to fish around for an inspection center.

Three words for ya.

Being new to the region, I was automatically placed in the student group but was assured that the instructors are VERY proactive in moving their student into the correct group after a witnessing the "students" ability. This should be interesting since I went from red and instructing in my last region to student here. No biggie though. My pride doesn't take a hit very easily when it comes to stuff like this. Besides, I have NEVER drvien VIR so it will be nice to do the track in "slo-mo" for a few session to get a feel for the track.

Looking forward to meeting up with everybody, should be a great weekend

Never heard of a problem. Most DOT regs apply on the the manufacturer and not the owner.

Did you do the national PCA instructor certification? If so they should recognize it if you are in the natioanl PCA database as an instructor. However, Potomac region puts instructors both in black and red. There are some fast drivers in Potomac throughout the groups, probably faster overall than many other regions. Therefore they are a little more conservative in moving people up as compared with some other groups. That being said, they are a great group to run with and the cheif instructors are very good guys.

Nope, just specific to my region. That wasn't going to happen (PCA cert) till this coming spring when we had the classroom cert program. But I moved away

Oh well. Time to start bulding my foundation here

Ask the cheif instructors of Potomac when they are doing their next class for national cert. Talk to Tom Trew or Alan Herod at VIR. They usually do it at Summit Point. I bet the Carolina regions do one at VIR or CMP. Just go to www.pca.org and email some of the cheif instructors in the local regions and see what you can find out.
Look forward to meeting you at VIR.
