Just had to replace the front glass in my 997s in North Carolina. Total cost was about $950.

The glass itself is about $600 and the labor was $150 at the local dealer. This is not a one day job. After setting the glass, it needs to sit for about one day.

RJ - sounds about right. It was 750 Canadian up here and about the same in labor. Needs to cure overnight.

Bill,

My GT3 is not as fast and heavily moded as yours so it only had a rock chip on the windshield. Just want to see how much it would cost to replace the whole thing in the future. You still owe me a picture of your Cayenne with your GT3 on it and the sound clip of your beast.

Check with your insurance company if you have a zero deductible policy toward a windshield replacement if it’s chipped or cracked bad enough. I thought NJ regs required it, and maybe NY might too.

TAch Miami,

Are you sure they won't raise your premium due to your claim? I know it's not a moving violation but those damn insurance company especially the ones in NJ like to over charge people. My friend lives in NJ and he had crashed 2 cars in last year and paying $9,000 a year in insurance.

It is what is called a Comprehensive claim, they are not allowed to raise your rates for comp claims, only collision. Comp claims are anything that doesn't involve a collsion with another object, person or animal or being hit by another car. So theft, wind damage, rock damage, hail damage, flood damage and vandalism would all be comp claims.

Be sure and insist on factory Porsche glass, not an OEM substitute.
