Default Decided on forgeline SX3R wheels...

I have decided these are the wheels I will be going with. My biggest reason is that I had a 1000 dollar gift from PCA for a rookie award from a bit back and I wanted to use it towards the wheels. Using this I would be at 2314 for the whole set which is half the price of the BBS wheels ! Forgeline asked me what offset to use so I wanted to ask you experts about that before I ordered the wheels. Also should I do the silver or gunmetal center on a black car. Thanks to all of you for your help. I am sorry for all the newbie questions. I just want to end up doing this right

sorry if I can't be much help for the offset but I just would like to say great choice on the wheels. I would go with gunmetal centers with polish lip.

Go with the Zx3Rs if you are going Forgeline. And do them in silver. Here is a set on my TT

I got both my SX3s (for the street) and SX3-Rs through viperbob. I have the gunmetal on the -Rs, and black anodized on the street units. Look good with the cf wing.

Here's what I got from Forgeline when I asked about the SX3-Rs that I have on the car (and the tire info for what I have on the car now):

Wheel Information
Size: 18 inches
Front Wheel Width: 9 inches
Rear Wheel Width: 11 inches
Wheel Finish: Gunmetal
Bolt pattern: 5 X 130 / 5 X 5.12
Front Wheel Offset: +49
Rear Wheel Offset: +64

Tire Information
Hoosier Grand Am Cup
Front Tire Dimension: 245 / 40 / 18
Rear Tire Dimension: 305 / 30 / 18

Why not save more and for the price of the Forgelines you could have a set of 3-piece CCW Classic (ccwheel.com) wheels AND tires? These are a bargain for a custom set of 3-piece race wheels. They start at $2K a set for 18"s in any width/offset. Street wheels start $250 higher, the difference being ARP stainless steel bolts and center caps. They are available with polished, matte silver (shotpeened and clear annodized) and matte black (shotpeened and black annodized) finishes.

Here are some pics of my track wheels. They are CCW Classic Race Wheels (Cadmium plated bolts and no certer caps) in 18x9.0"/18x11.0" for a narrow body 996. These are the Silver (clear annodized) finish. They were about $2200 with the optional finish shipped. I have 235/40 and 295/30 Pilot Sport Cups on them. I don't know the exact offset, but based off the backspacing the fronts should be around 50mm and the rears are around 70mm.

When I bought my SX3-Rs, John (CCW) did not yet have the correct wheels (offsets) for the GT3. He seemed to be always a week or two away. If he had had them, I would have gotten them as I ran his wheels on my 380 hp RX-7 for many years, street and track. Frankly, IMO, they're not as elegant as many wheels, but they are of excellent quality.

They make thin-wall impact sockets that work fine. I have the Snap-On 19mm I used with my BBS RE's

There's a Snap-on impact socket that has a plastic casing that fits when you take the plastic casing off. Per viperbob, who got me the piece. Not sure if the above is the same.

i use snap on long sockets, thin shell, not the dark colored reinforced ones. the chrome thin shell one will fit. they will crack after a year or so of intensive use, snap on truck will replace it without asking any questions. i am on my 3rd one.

FYI, GT3 offsets are the same as a narrow body Carrera. When I ordered mine a couple of months ago, he only had the clear annodized centers in stock. I believe it would have been a month for the polished centers, but all the rim halves were there. They were built and shipped in 2 days.

Forgeline is one of the best wheels for us. A real drivers wheel. I have two sets on a few of my cars. I will continue to buy Forgeline wheels when I am looking to upgrade my vehicles. Great choice.

Is this correct? I don't believe so. GT3 wheels are 40/63 mm offset f/r. Are not narrow body offsets closer to 52/65 mm f/r?
