The pricing in the 997 Turbo guide should suffice.
And most of the options are getting into the "If you have to ask..." range.

Maybe I'll go luxury the whole way and will get a TT, or another brand.

There is talk that the price premium on the RS will be very little. But if the GT3 arrives with a sunroof, I doubt the RS will escape the madness.

Hank
You're right insofar as you can put in a piece of fibreglass or even a sheet of carbon fibre, but you can't readily (or reversibly) create the rigidity, strength and head-room (all of which contribute to things like custom-fitting a taller roll-bar with more space around the helmet etc.)

I wouldn't admit it to the dealer, but I'll take the car even with the electric hole in the roof and then get a piece of CF painted and clip it in there. It's not that hard to get the sunroof out of a 993, I hope the 996/997 design is as convenient. I hope I can get a nice new sheet of Alcantara up there too ... but again, why? For US$100K+ and probably 1000-1500 potential sales in the US (counting people deleting from the Carrera/Turbo/GT2/RS lines) surely they can work on their budget or petition the DOT for some sanity check? Surely a car without a hole in the roof is as safe or safer? (pardon my grammar)

It's posted to the "old" GT3 forum. : ) Rennlist seems to limit file uploads or something, so posting more than once creates an error ... I'm not sure, but it's stopping the upload ...

If the 997 GT3 is only sold with sunroof... the only way you can prove to Porsche AG that they blew it is not to buy one of these cars.

Buying it and fixing it is crazy! How much money do you have to waste?

Carrera GT and enthusiast,

I didn't mean put a plug in the sunroof hole, I meant replace the roof panel itself. I had to do this once on my 996 Cup car (hood pins not in!). It really wasn't very expensive. I agree that I would rather purchase the car w/o the sun roof, however, that small detail wouldn't hinder my buy decision given the incredible-sounding performance the car has demonstrated to the press so far. In fact, I would probably use the sunroof driving around town if I didn't have a choice at purchase time. I try hard not to waste money at all and would most likely leave the roof alone. Hard to talk about not wasting money and GT3s in the same paragraph.

Hank

I think the only way for us to be heard is to write them real letters and include your current VIN.

If anyone knows the correct person to write to, please post here.

I will be sure to let them know that as a 996 Turbo owner who is capable of purchasing the 997 GT3, that I would rather get a used 996 GT3 than a 997 GT3 with sunroof.

Hank;

Sorry, I misunderstood you... but I would rather you spent your money on something else than a 'top' job on a new undamaged car.

stuka;

I will make some telephone calls to PCNA and see who might give a darn. I have found it hard to influence Porsche AG (in advance) other than not buying a particular model I don't like.

I'm thinking of adding a 996 GT3 to the fleet. The sunroof seems so out of place.

Mooty, how about this to really make your day:

I confirmed with my dealer (Carlsen Porsche) that the 997 GT3 will come with a sunroof, and that there is no "delete sunroof" option. He further replied:

Correct. There will NOT be a sunroof-delete option. All GT3s, including the RS, will have sunroofs

Frankly, "just" going to keep the 996 GT3, and hope I can keep it on the track. Gotta quit buying (and selling) all these g-d cars.
