Default MK1 GT3 throttle response vs 993

Recently drove a 993 at a speed testing day for the magazine. Noticed that the trottle response seemed a bit 'zippier' on the 993 than my GT3. The 993 had no trouble at all blipping up to 7000 rpm. THe GT3 just doesn't rev with such a quick response. My car has the Clubsport LWFW, so I would assume both the cars would have similar rotating inertia. The MK1 has a throttle cable, so its not an e-gas issue.

Any clues? Could it be as simple as mapping?

John, I'm wondering if the throttle actuation is less linear on the GT3, ie you have to press further to get the same initial result. Or failing that the varioram and variocam systems slow things down.
P.S. My Mk1 GT3 makes my old 993RS look very limp at athe top end of the rev range.

Did the 993 have a LWFW?

Last year in Excellence they compared the GT3 against, can't remember which, but I think the 911 RS or 993 RS. They went on and on about crisp throttle response of the old car, with its mechanical fuel injection and drive-by-cable setup. Probably what you felt.

I think it may have, but so has my GT3. The car is off on Thursday for its service - I'll get it on the scope and check the MAF and get the coils & injectors checked. The car will also be going on the rollers to make sure that its suitably mapped.

I agree with this.

My old 911 had 2.7 with mechanical fuel injection (it was basically an RS engine) and that think barked like a dog (you know, kinda like the F1 engine sounds when they rev it in pits) when you blibbed the throtlle.

Sure it only had about 210 hp but honestly to this day, no other Porsche (I have not tried Carrera GT though) has been as "throttle responsive" than what that thing is.

So yes, in my experience, 993 with LWF is more "throttle responsive" than GT3 and 2.7 even more so. No question about it.

Cheers FF. For a moment there, I thought I was on drugs.....

Hopefully, I can get it checked when I have the service and remap later this week.
