Default Can the GT3 be configured with rear seats?

I like the GT3, but I need the rear seats for the little kids. Is there any way to order rear seats in a 997 GT3 as a factory installed option?

It would be a little involved but I don't see why you couldn't do a retrofit installation. A retrofit would have to include all the anchor points for both the seats and the belts, seats, belts, misc small trim bits and maybe a peice of carpet. That aside, all of the major panels should be the same as I car with rear seats. Wouldn't be cheap but you could have the first 4 seat 997 GT3!

I dont think it will be any way straight forward.
Also I dont think I would like to ride in the back of a GT3 too much.

All the holes for mounting seat belts, seats etc are there.
I think there was a car with rear seats about 2 years ago being discussed on the list.

I'll bet you could find a 997 owner who would gladly swap rear seats etc. to get your seat delete stuff. I know I would if it was a 996

Not trying to tell you how to spend your dead presidents but wouldn't you be better off to get a 997S X51 with the aerokit and sport chrono +. It would be a better ride for the kids in back anyway. If you're going to really track the car then you wouldn't want the extra weight of the rears seats. If you're not a track guy then the 997S is fine after all if you don't go with slicks you won't be getting into the oil deprevation issue that would require the dry sump.

Again not trying to tell you how to spend your mula just a thought.

One-please make sure you get one of those liability waiver forms(I don't think that work either) signed if other then your kids. If something should happen(hope not) your car/house is gone. Mike

Yes, it is called a 997 X51 or a 997 Turbo.

If you are asking this question, you really don't want a GT3.

Why, not? I always carry my kids around in my "track" cars, so I only have to drive the family SUV when we all go out and need cargo space. Better if I could carry two kids instead of only one if the car can be used as a 2+2.

My kid's top choice is my Lotus Elise, but they can only ride on at a time...

Life is limited, and driving time even more, why waste your driving time having to compromise for a not-as-much-fun 4 seater?

Well, I already have a 997S and yes with PASM its a great ride for the kids, and specially the wife... One of the two reasons why I chose the the C2S over the Cayman S was the rear seats (the other was financial, as depreciation would be the same over 3 years, being a loaded C2S a better and faster dual purpose car).

My kids don't care about ride quality (that's why they prefer the Elise over the 997S). Will certainly choose a GT3 b/c I can and know how to use the extra performance and being able to take my kids with me to track days is an extra bonus.

If it is only a two seater, then I'm hard pressed not to consider a slightly used 360 Challenge Stradale which IMO is a superior car (and ride experience).

To each his own! I am an ex Ferrari owner and have not found any Ferrari at any price that I would take over other available options, this includes the Challenge Stradale. The one exception would be the Enzo but even then, the MC12 would get my money instead(technically the same car but not really). Yes the Ferrari is easier to drive at the limit and makes lots of great noises but the GT3 is a MUCH better tool. Not to mention a far more durable tool. Pop some rear seats in the GT3 and you have a car that suits all your needs. I have a friend that won't buy a GT3 and do the rear seat conversion becuase it is not factory. So basically, he is stuck driving a Porsche that he doesn't really want to own simply because he wants to bring his kids to the track and out on drives(sound familiar). I am a purist but the GT3 has enough performance to spare so a couple of seats won't hurt.
