Default GT3 versus other racing seats

I am looking to install new seats in the GT3. Couple of questions...

If I decide to go with non GT3 seats such as Recaro Pole Positions will I have an airbag light that stays on?

Who has the best price on GT3 seats?

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, the airbag light comes on when you forget to plug the seatbelt cable back into the wiring harness under the seat. With any aftermarket seat, you will have to transfer the female belt anchor to the new seat and plug the cable in, so no difference there with the GT3 seats.

Bill, follow this DYI and you will have no problem with the airbag light...

if you have a harness set-up like I do, you will have to retain your stock seat belt receptacle or get new ones from your dealer (about $35 each) to avoid a seat-belt warning...each side has a resistor that the computer detects...I just leave the stock belt plugged into the stock seat receptable that is tiewrapped to the roll bar...

I too have the 6pts,

My dealer won't sell me JUST the seat belt plug to plug into the receptacle. They say it does not come separately and you must buy an entire new belt harness?

I don't really feel like going to a salvage yard.

Tom....that sounds like the dealer is messing with you ($$$). Maybe just order it by part number instead of asking for the "seat belt receptacle".

If you don't have passenger couldn't you use the passenger plug and plug into the driver side receptacle.

I think that there are two different thoughts going though here. 1) the seat belt receptacle on the tunnel side of the seat is available as a separate part and can be used with a new seat. 2) the clasp or metal part of the shoulder belt that is inserted into the receptacle is only available on the belt itself. These are the same as later model BMWs and are plentiful in junk yards....

ding....we have a winner...Viperbob is on the money...Tom, did you remove your stock belts? You seem to still have the female receptacles but not the male inserts...the dealer wont' sell the inserts without the belts but the female receptacles with computer plugs are available and that was what I was referring to...I sold my sport seats without the receptacles and the buyer had to go to a dealer and replace them...I didn't want any warning lights so I kept the receptacles wired to the computer and placed the stock belt inserts in them and tiewrapped them to the rollbar...that way as far as the computer is concerned there are always two people in the car...and no lights...I wear the harness all the time, without the subs on the street (tuck them under the seats)...may look stupid but it works for me...

sorry about the confusion guys, its just something thats been irking me for awhile.

indeed, i was talking about the male part of the seat belt - which needs to be inserted to keep the seat belt light from going crazy when wearing 6 pts.

when im using the 6pts i just connect the 3pter BEHIND the seat to get rid of the light.
