Default Thunderhill -- Sound Requirements?

I was told a few weeks ago that Thunderhill is now monitoring for sound and has a 103 db max. Thus, this last event I put the stock exhaust back on instead of the bypass pipes (better to run quiet than not at all!).

However, I found that there were MANY loud cars out there and doubt that they would make the 103 limit. No cars were black flagged that I saw, nor did I hear of anybody being warned for sound.

Who has run at Thill lately (within the last two weeks or so) and heard/seen anything about sound monitoring??? I really want to run my bypass pipes but am affraid that if I do, and get busted for sound, I will end up getting black flagged and sitting out the day.

At the 4/7 event I was told:

Shannon would be monitoring for sound at the exit of 15 (turn that leads onto main straight).

There is a 103 db limit.

Corner workers would be identifying "loud" cars and report to Shannon for special attention (singling them out for monitoring).

Anything to report on this??? I am about to put my pipes back on, but am a bit worried. What do you think? Any first hand experience lately that would be of use to me to make my decision?

TIA, Tim

dont worry, stock GT3 is less than 90dB.
to be 103, you have to rip out the entire exhaut up include the header ;-)
even by pass will not be louder then 103.

even with stock pipes, GT3 already sound marvelous.

I just had to speak my mind here, SCCA voluntarily installed the sound limit. With the battle we're fighting at Laguna Seca vs. golfers and developers, couldn't we have done without providing another precedent? Thanks a lot SCCA. (sarcastic)
now how do I really feel about the sound limits, hmmm.
Perhaps we will all be driving Audi diesels some day anyway?

You do know that the Audi diesels do not burn diesel fuel, but rather burn some exotic concoction that evaporates from the tarmac when spilled, don't you?

BTW, ran all day without a problem with the bypass pipes today at Thill...

Of course, that is always subject to change....they could get more picky in the future...you know how that goes.
