Any pictures of the bottom of the GT3 seats would be very helpful.

as viperbob has said, the bottom of the GT3 seats will have alot of detail unlikely to be found on a copy.

How about this? You can see the molded plastic pieces, and the detail with the spring the keep the liner in place.

Look just like mine, even the location of the white paper label.

Bob, any idea why the p/n doesn't begin with a "996" as do most (all?) 996-related parts do?

Those are Recaro #s Joe, not Porsche numbers. Recaro does not play 100% by Porsche rules. You will notice that the sliders (which are really nice BTW) do not have any Porsche related numbers on them. Also just the packaging. What other supplier to Porsche uses their own Company name on the box. The Boxes say Recaro everywhere except for the one part number label used by Porsche.

VB,
Do the genuine GT3 seats have the PAG mark?

We called the dealership where these seats were purchased, things do not seem to be adding up, the seller faxed his original dealer invoice, it's suspect.

more details to come

If this works out to be a scam, would you call the Police?

If you can see them PRIOR to purchase then just don't pay for them until you are satisfied. But when this many red flags go up I just have to ask......why even consider the purchase?

And I hate when people state "my loss is your gain". That should throw up red flags as well.

Also, if they are in fact the CF seats and not the regular ones then the easiest thing would be to ask for the weight, more pictures, etc. Ask them to weight the seats and see if that matches up with what PAG states. But, at $2500 (as the auction went) is good for the CF ones since those (if they are real) are in the $5K range from places like Carnewal which usually has competitive pricing.

Does anybody here even have a picture of the CF seats (front, sides, back, bottom)??????

We had the invoice faxed to us, called the dealer they had not sold a pair of these seats in the last 6 months, invoice said Jan 02, 2006
there was no invoice number on invoice, so there was no way to track it
Part numbers on invoice not found
Emailed ebay security, no responce
seller does not return calls

I think he sold them to the next bidder

Thanks to all the sharp eyes that notice they were fakes.

You just can not be too careful on the eBay stuff. There are a lot of fakes out there. Glad that you did not get screwed buying them....

Sorry for a potentially dumb question but are the fakes that bad? Or do they just not have the Porsche crest, sure don't pay big bucks for a fake but if the price is right is the purschase of these seats sensible?

Cheers Greg

Safety my friend! I doubt these seats have been through material stress and crash tests.

Ciao,

J.

You have to assume that the choice of fiber and resin was based on their cost and not mechanical properties. The other issue is that the seats are floppy so we know whoever did the actual fiber placement/layout did not bother engineering any of it.

You'd knowingly put your life & possibly that of a passenger at risk to save a few bucks? Probably not a good place to cut corners.

Since we're on the subject of saving money...I've got a source for cheap Mobil 1, it comes in yellow gallon jugs that say Mazola and looks a lot like cooking oil. PM me if interested.
