Should I buy Ceramic Brakes ?
Yes , I have done a search at the GT3 forum...with only one answer ! AT the 996 Turbo forum dozens of answers from people that did not intend to track their cars...
I am just deciding the acquisiton of a 2005 GT3. One of the candidates comes with ceramic brakes, only 4.000 miles on it. A difference of 3.000 $ against another with "normal" brakes.
I plan to use MAINLY my car at the track on DE and Club track events.
I have heard that:
1.- They are great for street use
2.- Delicate for tracking ( fastly used than normal brakes..)
3.- Expensive rotors to substitute when used
Anyone at the forum comming to help me ? Please ?

For a delta of only $3K, I would consider the car with the PCCB as long as you can confirm that the PCCB is the improved 2nd generation version.
If the PCCB holds up on the track then great. If not, you can then decide whether or not you want to switch to steel rotors which can be replaced at significantly lower running costs.

In answer to your question, don't pay a premium for ceramics for a car that is going on track.
I just spent all of saturday and 2.5k GBP replacing my ceramics with alcon steels & pagid RS29s. More info on this forum if you search.

If your PCCB destruct, for the front it's a straight swap to a normal steel rotor as for the rear you have two choices, One remove the original caliper and replace it with the caliper designed for the steel rotor or go with a Race non or full floating rotor.
If it was me I would no worry about the PCCB rotor's and if they do go, get the aftermarket Race rotors which would be your best bet on replacement rotors anyways with the added plus of having a larger rear rotor. I think it's 350mm vs. 330mm, you can look that up.
What I did is remove the front PCCB rotors and left the rear PCCB's on the car, I do track the car and there is no question that the front would not last.

the 997 is the only series with gen II pccb. Figure the cost difference to be 7K, the extra four thousand is to cover the cost of conversion to steel.

IIRC, gen 2 PCCB has appeared on the '05 996 Turbo S. I actually inquired about a new (at the time) '05 white GT3 in Florida that reportedly had gen 2 PCCB, but it was only verbal confirmation. I couldn't get any concrete evidence (i.e., photos) regarding the brakes.

It is not just the rotors that are different, it is the ABS unit that has been modified. Apparently part of the issue with the PCCBs was not only the heat issue, but on track it was the ABS pounding the rotors during lockup situations. The new unit is not supposed to not be as brutal to the rotors under ABS lock.
