Given the "August" date in the press release for the 997 GT3, I am disappointed to hear from the local dealer, Carlsen, that they expect to fulfill customer orders around "Spring" of 2007.
I guess the idea is PAG builds a car in 8/06 and it reaches a US customer around 10/06 at the earliest, but surely they can make enough of these things to clear out the 1000 or so US orders they probably have in less than six months?
I placed an order for this thing since about the first instant I saw the first 997 Carrera and I have to assume their are "good" customers (I've only bought one car at Carlsen) well ahead of me, but seriously, Spring?!
So, who's got an order with a US dealer and what date did they set as a realistic expectation to fill your order?
Does anyone have a dealer telling them they'll get an '07 GT3 in August?
It will also depend on dealer allocations. You have to remember that some dealers only recieved a few GT3 orders for 04' and most recieved them late in the year or even 05'.
There were a few 996 GT3 delivered in 2003 as 2004 models.
Porsche plans to deliver the 2006 GT3 at the end of 2006? So, 2-3 months after delivery, people will be driving an old car, because the 2007 will be available.
the dealer just like and business will take care of the long term customer. That might suck but that is a fact. Just like you guys that get on the plane before everyone else or go through the express line through x-ray. I am one so I am not complaining.
If you have purchased CGT,turbo 996 GT3 and a couple of other cars paid cash. How do you think will be at the top of the list? Also, the dealers that even get a GT3 might only get 2,3,?????
Our dealer already has five guys on their list. Number five will most likely come from trade with another dealer or show up in 08. Maybe that guy will just wait for the 997 GT3CS-RS with the sequential tranny no carpet, plastic windows BBS mags PASM. I am sure the dealer would be happy to take a deposit.

i know how it works. thats why i was saying he ought to make them confirm something about where he is on the list.
i get pref treatment at my dealer but do not agree that is the right way to do business. i think the order list ought to be made availble to other people ordering the car. i wouldnt deal with a dealer that wouldnt be upfront with you as a customer.
also if you think you are getting preferential treatment wouldnt others be as well? and then there would be the pecking order of pref customers.
not my idea of good business.
My understanding is that allocations for the "regular" 997GT3 will not be a major issue. As far as delivery date goes August 2006 as an 07 model. I will try and get 100% confirmation.
They haven't even received the order guides yet, I was told October maybe.
Exactly, so those of you that believe you've got a Q # can forget it. Your dealer is doing nothing but sitting nicely on your cash while it could have been in your bank.
