Just for fun I brought up a 2003 thread "GT3 Update" which was a discussion about the US spec GT3 hold due to EPA issues.

I doubt we will go through that again.

also if you think you are getting preferential treatment wouldnt others be as well? and then there would be the pecking order of pref customers.
not my idea of good business.
Well, as for a pecking order, all the dealers around here (Bay Area) have their customers that have one or more of just about everything Porche has made from umbrellas and drink coasters to Cayennes and the Carrera GT (there's a few of those folks here on Rennlist ... : ) Anyhoot, I know I'm not "first kid" status, but I expected '06, not Spring '07. There is a list, I can sit there and read names if I want, but as already mentioned, there's not even a prelim order guide for the US. When I placed an order, more than a year ago, I was one of a handful of "standing customers" that can be relied upon at their word, so there was no deposit, just a name added to the list. Personally, I would take a launch car and I don't care too much about spec as long as it's not overladen with froufrou stick-on bits.
So for now, with no idea of how many cars or the lead time in building them, I am curious to use "the power of Rennlist" to gather up what we're all being told.
I don't feel like waiting another whole year for this thing.

I don't think there ever was a GT launch car. GT3, GT2, CGT?? Was there?

I guess the word "launch" could be associated with new model launches, but what I'm thinking of is the way PCNA/PAG somehow use past sales performance to allocate cars (usually two) to each given dealer and the spec of those first cars will be set by the factory. The dealers usually seem to sell one and keep the other as a demo driver or for the dealer principal when it's something like the Turbo. Some dealers around here just sell both and deliver them to the customer straight after whatever sales event (invite-only evenings etc.)
