Default Harness/Fire exhtinguisher

i'm putting the porsche tequipment roll bar and gt3 seats in my 997s and would like to get recommendations for harness/fire extinguisher barcket (besides porsche's)

1. recommendation for harness that would easily fit (make and model). car will be used for de events no racing.

2. mounting hardware for the harness (side and using porsche sub mounts).

3. firesextinguisher mounting bracket either to teh seat or the roll bar (make and model).

4. what is the diameter of the roll bar tubing

thank you for your help.

You have many options for harnesses.
Schroth is a very good product. Stay with 6 points, no 5 points (discussed in the Racing/DE forum). 3" shoulder, 2" lap belts are very comfortable. FWIW, I have the Schroth Hybrid II Titanium 6 points and they hybrid mounting system for crotch belts is the most comfortable harness I've ever worn. Technically not street legal, due to non single pushbutton release...dumb rule.

Here's a link to harness installation instructions/guidelines:

These are the Porsche harnesses (pushbutton release...street legal):

As for mounting hardware for GT3 seats:

As for the fire extinguisher:
(be sure to mount it in accordance to your region's DE guidelines for location)

Be aware that the inexpensive fire extinguishers are very corrosive to your car, should you ever need to use it. Halon/Halotron/AFF is a bit more friendly, but more expensive.

You can also find belt mounting/fire extinguisher hardware from Brey Krause:

http://www.bkauto.com/porsche/seatmounts.php

Take a trip over to the Racing/DE forum. LOTS of very knowledgeable people over there who would be willing to help. LOTS of answers to previously posted questions (fire supression systems, harnesses, H&N, etc) available via the search as well.

On a closing note, I would also suggest considering a head & neck (H&N) restraint.....HANS, ISAAC, R3 are the most often used/discussed. We had some DE fatalities last year sad to say.

You can also find a local mechanic with race/DE car prep experience; you local PCA DE region should be able to help you find one.
They can assist you in making some safety equipment decisions and assure the install is done properly.

No, I won't be.
I'm taking a year off from DE so I can spend time with my son at the kart track.
He's moving up from 80cc Cadet (8hp) to 125cc Junior Rotax (20hp); so we've got a big learning curve this season.
I am transport driver, mechanic, driving coach, spotter, mechanic, sponsor and kart owner
Since his season starts the end of April, I'm heading out to Laguna Seca at the end of March for 3 day Skippy School.....hopefully that will hold me for the year.
The Cup car will have to rest for the summer....unless I can sneak in a few mid week DE days.
There are lots of local NER mechanics who can assist/advise on your upgrades if needed.
Have fun at LRP....hopefully this won't be the track's last season.

I just installed a fire extinguisher to my Tequipment rollbar. Not the best pics, but you get the idea:

H3R Extinguisher: http://www.mygaragestore.com/detail.aspx?ID=1162
SafeCraft Bracket: http://www.mygaragestore.com/detail.aspx?ID=717
Pro-Werks Mounts: http://www.pro-werks.com/index.php

The bar is 40mm diameter. I used 1 5/8" mounts and with some rubber from a radiator hose between the mounts and the bar to keep the bar from getting scratched up & to absorb some vibration. Was going to get the SafeCraft extinguisher, but it's being discontinued (and not UL listed).
