So, you are judging strangers based on username and being instructors, wow. I realize these forums are tough because our credentials (if we have any) are not on display. I think most of us are trying to help one another, but we can't be sure.

I said, another man's remarks and used quotation marks... I am not Steve.

I was looking for a 993 or 996 model Porsche when I created my username, that was the reasoning behind it. I would like to change the username because it doesn't reflect all the models I like, but I understand that is a big deal on Rennlist.

I understand your frustration with narrow minded 911 people but I am not one of them. I have had trouble on the track with slower air cooled cars because my water cooled 944 couldn't possibly be faster that them??? However, I don't condemn every 'air cooled engine' guy/gal.

I'm also troubled that you think so poorly of instructors. You must have some really crappy ones in San Diego for you to be condemning all of us.

968 Owner's Manual, WKD 968 021 94, 5/93, page 64-65:

Fuel Efficient Oils
(Fuel efficient oils have low viscosity at low temperatures adn high thermal stability at high temperatures. As high performance oils, these oils are manufactured only as synthetic or hydrocrack oils at present)

-25degC to 40degC: SAE 10W-30
-30degC to 40degC: SAE 5W-40 or SAE 5W-50

Multigrade Oils
(Oils with two viscosities are called multigrade oils, oils with only one viscosity are termed single-grade oils. Single grade oils can only be used for the narrow temperature range identified by their SAE number; multigrade oils cover a wider temperature range)

-10degC to above 40degC: SAE 20W-40 or SAE 20W-50
-15degC to above 40degC: SAE 15W-40
-20degC to 35degC: SAE 10W-40
-25degC to 20degC: SAE 10W-30
-30degC to 0degC: SAE 5W-30
-35degC to -10degC: SAE 5W-20

Single Grade Oils

15degC to 40degC: SAE40
0degC to 30degC: SAE30
-10degC to 10degC: SAE20
-10degC to 10degC: 10W-20

Have a nice weekend

I show up with my 89S4 (5spd) when I first moved here. "You're going to go on the track with that?"
Silver S4 goes around track on a separate occasion - "Look at the cadilac go"
Another time" "I'm not sure what a Corner Balance would do for you in THAT thing".

(Not to anyone here) Oh, sorry for not having my entire engine hanging out behind my rear axle.

I've digressed. Seems as though what LTC posted shows that Posche still wanted Thicker multi grade oils at anything above -10Deg for the 968, and that has Variocam.

Stronger springs in the heads, higher then normal revs, increased engine output, even hot street driving all can require heavier oils.

I agree. Track requires heavier oil.
