Default Sorry but I have to ask which is faster C6 or GT3?

A colleague is getting a C6 vette, which is faster in a straight line, GT3 or the Vette.
I know on a track I'll run rings around him, but what about straight line, would they be dead event? Would he leave me eating dust? Would I pull slightly.

I know its a childish and immature question, but I gotta ask it.

Really, I doubt it, its a 4 speed automatic. My car feels so fast, maybe I am overly biased

I have to disagree. I beat a 04' Z06 off the line and took him by a car length. He was pushing his car to the limit. A c6 is 400hp compared to a 04' Z06 which has 405hp. A 06' Z06 would be a totally different result.

i still say the gt3 is more of a drivers car.... tougher to be good in the gt3 than the 06 vette

A stock C6? Not sure..they stoped coming to our track strangely. I thought nothing of it. To be honest, if you even are about a straight line get 5.0 mustang and do it up for 20K then put away Z06 C6 all day.
It's not my bag of tea. I do think on our back straight, it will be an issue of exit speed and the ability to get the power down out of the turn, which I believe the GT3 will do best. If you only mean a standstill straight line, just get a Z06, it ceratinly is not designed be used at a track as it uses 12 brake pads for the front wheels alone!, obviously GM was thinking you would not need consumables (like their race teams do and know) - can you tell that I do not respect this car and I think this will prove itself out in the next while once the mags realize what was built. That engine is not bulletproof but I wish it were, so it would be a legitimate challenge to Porsche's pricing.

From a standstill a GT3 should take a stock C6. Rolling start the C6 will take you. Track the two cars and you will smoke him!

Well, I played with a stock C6 on a long twisty road (divided hwy) by the river. No one else around. I ran away by 2 car links from the standing start and was easing away, then from a rolling start eased away again......Either my GT3 is extra fast, or he was extra slow.....But I have out run 04 ZO6s at the track, and run with them even down the long back stretch at Road Atlanta.

I have a friend that just go a new ZO6,...I am sure we'll find some time to compare. I don't expect good results with that one though

No doubts the GT3 rules, even if the Vette were faster, but I believe its not, of course the GT3 requires a semi-skilled driver to get a decent launch and do some quick shifting, while the Vette guy just has to stomp on the throttle.

I'm talking about a bone stock 400hp C6 vette, with the 4 speed auto tranny, the 6 speed auto w/paddle shift only came out as an 06 model, and come to think of it I wonder if its faster than the 05 4 speed?

Come to think of it who cares about how fast a Vette is anyway.

Dude, I just explained that the vehicle I raced was an 04' Z06, which has 405hp compared to a 2006 C6 which has 400, not a Z06. You asked if it was a manual. All Z06's are manuals. Why would a race result with a new C6 with less hp be any different? It's not all about horsepower. Gearing, redline and driver capability all play an important role. Is there a language barrier here that I am not detecting?
