How to pronounce Piech??
Always irritated when people pronounce Porsche incorrectly, even after 34+ years. Great article this month in Excellence about Ferry's sister- read a lot about her and the "other" side of the family over the years, but have never known how to pronounce that name. Help...

Ray,
Yeah, The "Victory by Design" host is Alain de Cadenet. I met him at Monterey a couple of years ago. Great guy & a very accomplished driver in his day but he does flip-flop on his Porsche pronunciation in that series

Newest issue has picture of a Cayman on the cover, from the back. That magazine has clearly surpassed Pano in the last few years... (have to watch my Victory by Design DVD again!)

I've always thought it was pronounced "peesh", but what do I know...

The name is written Piëch. This spelling is probably a family affectation, as ë is not in the standard German character set. In modern German it would be written Pieech, but I have never seen it written that way. The family members call themselves 'Pee-eck', leastways, that is what it sounds like when they introduce themselves. Many of the current generation were educated in England. They are principally based in Salzburg. When a Porsche married into the Piëch family, this was seen as a step up for the Porsches, Viennese lawyers being a respected breed in those days.
