When driving through Iowa, you can get wireless at all the interstate reststops- makes you want to come right out here to watch the corn harvest, doesn't it???? (You need GOOD brakes, when cresting a hill on a nice country road to meet a tractor going 3mph!!) Eat your heart out...

Sorry,
But Lufthansa and Singapore are very different. Lufthansa is becoming more like a glorified business class and their service is becoming spotty.
I don't know when you last flew Qantas or Air NZ (mostly business class), but again they don't compare. Nor does BA, the flight atendants can't compete in the service department.
Singapore is far, far superior, consistent and in a class by itself (IMO).
Emirates, Gulf Air and Quatar I know nothing about.

Lufthansa's coverage into the US from Europe is excellent. I can even fly into Portland OR, have a daily flight to Boston and heaps of other places. For a frequent traveller, being able to get where you want to without too many changes is invaluable. Once Lufthansa know you (Senator), they do look after you.
From time to time I fly Singapore, all I can say is, its not what it was.
As far as cabin service goes, passengers get the cabin service they deserve. I have had great service from ANZ, Qantas and BA. ANZ even serves the wine my grapes go into, so the cabin staff always come by for an update on what is happening, like good sommelliers.
A reasonable rule of thumb is that new airlines are nicer than old airlines.
