for us Yank's, the color code for RS White is 900, and for Carrera (with an "e") White is B9A.

The Cup nose is a GT3 nose with the cut outs and is cheaper from PMS that the GT3 nose. It is the identical nose with the cut outs done manually by PMS...

Even cheaper here, last one I bought was 500$ and cost 90$ to ship it to me.

I also have a Cup nose for late Gt3 that needs a plastic weld I could sell very cheap but it would be best for a track car as I dont think it will look perfect...

Yes!
The name CARRARA became from the italian marble " Bianco di Carrara" (white of Carrara)

Default Choices!

Please bear with me, but I'm getting confused. I think I have four replacement options for my front bumper:

1. GT3 bumper, in primer, part no. 996-505-983-02-G2X, for about $2,046 plus shipping. Sunset Imports has this item. PET calls this part bumper front lining.

2. Aerokit Front Bumper Cover from the Carrera Cup Aerokit II, in primer, part no. 996-505-980-06-G2X, including the spoiler lip, part no. 996-505-986-92-01C, for $1,145 plus shipping (this seems to be a kit to change the non-GT3 996 to GT3 appearance) Suncoast Porsche has this one and calls it gt3frontbumperkit on their website. PET calls this part front embellisher.

3, A bumper that Sunset Imports found, in primer, part no. 000-044-802-28 for $1,305 plus shipping. PET calls this part front spoiler. I ahve not seen this part number before.

4. The GT3 Cup Car bumper with the cutouts and screens, in unfinished plastic requiring prep and paint, part no. R996-505-984-93 for $1,575 plus shipping. Devek has these along with the Cup spoiler lip for $139 plus shipping. PET does not recognize this number, but then it's a Cup Car part.

It seems to me that option #2 is the least expensive direct replacement and option #4 is a possible appearance "upgrade," depending in both cases on getting a good quality paint job, and then I should put on a clear bra, again.

What do you suggest?

Chris

Don't forget the GT3 RS bumper which looks like the cup one, but has flush fit mesh for a better finish. The cup one the mesh sits below the cutouts, on the RS, the mesh is molded so it sits flush with the cutout.

Look closely at the page I posted from the 2003GT3 996 Cup parts and service disc. 996-505-983-02-G2X is the Cup front cover. This data was supplied by the racing department at Weissach.

RK1, call me Chris! #4 does appeal, but note what DanH says....

DanH, I had discounted this option because the RS part comes finished in RS white (code 900) and would require being repainted, which seemed like a waste, but at $1,342 from Devek and with the better fit you note it might make the most sense. Devek notes the part no. as 996.505.980.92.900 but says what they get arrives without the lower screens. I wonder where you get those and how you install them flush....

Nordschliefe, the 983 part (996-505-983-02-G2X) is the OEM part and the 984 part (996-505-984-93-G2X) is the Cup part. The G2X at the end is the code for primer finish. I think I got that right.

Chris,
I can see how the RS nose looks better since the mesh is molded into it and sits flush with the bumper but it dose not have the lower mesh screens like the CUP bumper and so many folks have tried to get this useful feature that I thought I can solve all the issues at once by going with the CUP nose to get all four mesh units plus the CUP tow hook.
BTW, dose anyone know what color the CUP tow hook is?

Austin at Devek tells me that the Cup Car nose lacks an aluminum "filler" piece behind the bumper. He does not recommend the Cup Car nose because in an impact (even a parking lot fender bender) the damage would be worse than with a OEM or RS nose. He also notes that the RS piece paints well.

I know you're all waiting with bated breath...just ordered the RS nose. Delivery expected from Germany in a loooong time, but then it's almost winter here.
