Default front spoiler lip

Hi,

I have read through alot of the threads on the low front spoiler that you can probably repace for about $150 if it is damaged. I understand that one of the biggest problems is on driveways. I live in West Virginia and we have alot of very steep hilly roads even on the highways. I was wondering if the lip would be low enogh to cause problems on these types of roads. I am trying to decide betwenn a 997 TT and GT3.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hard to say man. There are lots of steep driveways here too. I manage NOT to scrape at all about 95% of the time. The other 5% is very minor. However, there is always that 0.001% of the time that you will totally F#ck up and destroy it!

Take it off for street driving if you want and put it on for track events. It won't do anything for the car at "legal" speeds anyway. I have a sloping (down) driveway and have ripped it off enough times now that I don't drive with it on the streets, but will zip-tie it on for track events (better than the plastic rivets).

I use the stock spoiler for my every day driving, and install the Cup spoiler for the track.

Fryd, why would you remove it for street driving? its 2nd purpose besides aerodynamics is to protect the front bumper!

You may have a point but I think the extra 3cm or so of clearance means that you're a lot less likely to be hitting anything anyway, unless it's a serious pothole or up/down slope. I literally cannot get the car in or out of my garage without ripping it off so have given up trying.

1) Get the better plastic rivets from Porsche (not the push in but the phillips head).
2) Use double sided adhesive tape between the bumper and the spoiler
3) When all else fails, use a couple of small nuts and bolts in place of the plastic rivets in the front. 3 will do a great job keeping it on

i second that. it's like a warning & protecting the bumper well. if u remove it then when u hit u're hitting the bumper. imo the car looks weird without the lip anyways.
