Depending on if you have spare tires on the front of the trailer- you don't want too much tongue weight. Try it both ways to see which works better. They do make tongue weight scales if you want to get that fancy. I tow an enclosed trailer with my Cayenne and it is sensitive to tongue weight. And yes, DON"T use a car cover on an open trailer- the wind buffetting will ruin the paint! Especially if it rains!

Well I have a open trailer too and towed my GT3 to T-Hill front 1st and I would say best to load rear first because with all the weight on the back(GT3) trailer will tend to wander but still it wasn't to the point it's scary but you'll notice it(I didn't have long enough planks to load it rearwise-it would hit exhaust tips). I didn't use no cover either-seems like most part the front of my Cayenne picks up most of the crap neway and besides it's fun having people look at your ride : ). Coming back from T-hill, Racer's Group(racing with PRC with NASA) 18 wheeler gave me the thumb's up on the way back : ). Regards. Mike

Depends on the trailer but most are set up for "normal" cars and rear first works best. To hell with tongue weight if your trailer is swaying back and forth.
My trailex is fine for my 993 but you can tell the rear axles are further back than many trailers.

On Trailex you can move the axel rearward for better weight distribution. I left my Trailex axel forward moved the spare tire rack to the front of the trailer, added a large toolbox on the front and moved the front wheel stops about 1.5" forward by notching the angled aluminum pieces at the front of the trailer. I would not tow with the car loaded backwards as this could force dirt and rain/moisture up the exhaust into the cylinders, yes I worry alot . With this rig I have no problems towing at 75mph.
