Default GT3 Engine Cost?

A fella had to get a new motor in his 997 (see 997 Forum) and it cost $7524 with core exchange.

What does a GT3 engine cost to replace with core exchange?

Thanks/John

I don't seem to recall anyone ever replacing their engine.

$40K for a new engine Are you guys serious?! I am new to the Porsche world and all but $40K for a new motor just sounds too much. I mean I am sure it is brand new and not a rebuild. And it's probably air freight from germany... But holy moly!

Exact cost (msrp) is $45249 for a new motor and $26531 for a Porsche reman.

Hmm, if I ever need a rebuild, I guess I will just use Jerry Woods.

If you need a rebuild send it to Kelly Moss in Wis. They are the certified rebuilder for Cup motors(close to the same thing as our GT3 motors)

Interesting. This means that at $110k the GT3 is quite a bargain when a 997S, well optioned can easily get to $90K. Then you only pay $20K for the GT3 motor, and you get the rest of the car, too!

If my memory doesn't fail a new transmission was $25k and a new motor $45k.

PCCB are $16k. So, if you find a brand new PCCB loaded GT3 for $86k, are you getting the rest of the car for free?

PCCB is an 8150 option.
The list price of the PCCB upgrade kit is 16K but you can get it for around 10K.

The primary reason the GT3 engine is so costly in comparison to the 997 motor is due to volume.

Titanium connecting rods can't be cheap either...
