996 drains battery like crazy??
Am I under the wrong impression that the 996 GT3 drains its battery pretty quickly. I didn't drive my GT3 for 3-4 wks and can't get it started. After a few tries, I am charging up my emergency battery booster to try to jump start it.... but 3-4 wks is a very short time for a battery to get drained....

Typer - that appears to be normal. Get a battery maintainer (dealer has them) which plugs in the cigar lighter and you'll be safe. The battery is small (weight savings) and the electronics are always drawing some current. You should also check that the luggage and engine compartment lids are properly closed -- the light in there will kill the battery is 2 days. Sometimes it can latch without being fully engaged and the light stays on. Not visible in daylight and then --- dead battery.

Typer77,
Is your car a Mk.1 Clubsport with external and internal electrical kill switch? If so, make sure the switchers are not in the engaged mode because they engage a solenoid that isolates the battery but at the same time draw current. Don't ask me how I know!

TYPER,
Do you have a Boomerang installed for car recovery? It draws mine down in 3 to 4 weeks aslo. The Boomerang uses cellular technology and is on all the time. I have a battery maintanber that Racerron purchased for me its a CTECH mutli us 12V - better then the conventional Porsche one at half the price. If you need one I can get Raceron to get you one PM me your details.

PS HI Bob Rouleau looking forward to Tremblant Aug19th !! See you tehn. PIerre

my car sat for 2 and a half months in the very wintery days before i brought it out of hiberation beginning of february.
started up just fine.
my boxster has sat for 3 months with no problems.
all these are with the doors locked and alarm armed.
if your batteries die after a month, they may be weak and need replacement
