Talking I've been Manthey'd

Picked up car from JZ today after having the Manthey K410 engine upgrade and Manthey suspension fitted.

The pulling power low down is amazingly stronger, but haven't had chance to stretch it's legs properly yet.

The suspension changes are very noticable, and the steering feels so much more positive, the turn in is so sharp, that i have nearly had a couple of 'moments' in this wet weather already !!!

Looking forward to getting it on track at Silverstone tomorrow, weather permitting.

What did each upgrade entail?

I'm not that technical like some of you guys, but here goes.....

Manthey K410 kit is..

New exhaust system including new headers and 100 cell cats ??

K+N air filter

Re-mapped ECU (which actually gets sent off to Manthey in Germany)

Official result is 410 BHP, but i know someone who had theirs tested at 430 BHP on a rolling raod !!

The power is very noticable low down, it comes in very similar to the way my turbo cab does.

As for the suspension, it's had the Manthey kit, don't know much about the tech side of this, all i know is that it feels totally different from standard.

I had the strut tops replaced to give an extra degree of caster, what ever that does !!!

Oh yes, and got the wheels sprayed the same way they are on an RS, but Black.

On track tomorrow, so will let you know, but it's forecast for snow over here, so fingers crossed !!!

Was it a replacement filter that looks like the stock paper, or is it s special intake filter of somekind?

Errrrr,

I know it's not a cup filter, because a friend of mine has that on his MKI, and it is totally different.
It is the same big black box as you open the engine cover, but the filter inside is different.

Glenn:

I think they use the BMC air filter instead of a K&N.

Is the car too loud with the MM410?

Exhaust is only a little louder, from 100db to 101db i think, it doesn't sound much different inside the car until about 6000rpm, then it has a lovely raspy sound to it, it sounds fantastic outside though.

A good friend of mine has just had his MKI done at the same time as me, i think it is called the K400 for the MKI, he is thrilled to bits aswell, as the numbers suggest, there are even bigger gains from standard bhp to be made on the MKI.

As for wheels, it was a one off done by a company in London, i sent them a picture of an RS wheel, and just said that i want it Back and Silver instead of Red and Silver.
I think they underestimated the job, as they were very difficult to do, they said that if they had to do another set, it would be at least another £200 more than the £500 i was charged.

I will take some closer photos tomorrow for anyone interested.

Great looking car....the black works well....do you find the ride alot stiffer?.....very curious to see the improvement with the Manthey 410 kit over stock....

Was there any ride height adjustment with the kit? looks a little lower/bias on the front...

Just got back from Silverstone, and must say that i am absolutely chuffed with the upgrades, the extra power is very noticable, especially coming out of long corners and eats the straights, but the suspension has just opened up a new world of handling.
Before, the car was just standard without ever even being set up !! Now, the car feels so planted and sharp, it's unbelievable, it really has transformed the car totally.

The Manthey exhaust sound fab too, my mate took some footage on his digicam, and the sound is wonderful.
