Thumbs up

IMO for a GT3 the RS flywheel is a must. The chatter noise is minimal
I agree, I also find the clutch easier to use, and haven't even come close to a stall. No negatives to this upgrade, IMO.

but what about the cpu remap? i thought that was needed to take advantage of the throttle response issue? can you get an RS map?

After reading the Excellence article on the RS, before pulling the trigger on the Flywheel/clutch conversion, I was concerned about that. Other GT3 owners who had done the RS flywheel conversion all reported much improved throttle response, without the remap, IMO, the RS remap has more to do with the whole RS engine package, which is more than just the flywheel/clutch.

The lightweight flywheel used to be an option, without 'remaps'. the 1994 RS America was offered with either the dual mass flywheel, or the lightweight flywheel ( the same part # as today's GT3RS uses), with a much cruder ECU.

You'll also need an RS key code to get the remap, and that will be really, really tough. Bottom line, it works really well and is a big improvement

Again, thanks to all. It seems the RS clutch and flywheel package has many positives and, from what I can gather from your posts, not a single negative - besides the cost! My only question is where in the heck can I find a shop willing to tackle the project in the greater Lancaster/Philly area?

Not to put too fine a point to it, but the RSA did not have the LWF as an option. The European RS had the LWF standard but with a different ECU. There have been many complaints about stalling, particularly with A/C on, from those who have installed the LWF on aircooled cars.

I have not read a single complaint about stalling on the water cooled cars with a LWF.

My mistake. Most of the people I know with RSA's around here have the LWF.

The euro GT3 also comes with this flywheel as standard in the clubsport spec. It's not only for the GT3rs.

No it doesn't.
The MKI had the light flywheel.
The MKII only gets the roll cage, fire extinguisher, and the GT3 seats, 6 point belt for the driver and battery master switch in the cockpit.

Everyone still happy with their RS Flywheel/clutch setups? 95% sure I have an RMS, so might as well change the stock fly/clutch out since they need to come off anyway. Awaiting approval from my dealer as far as doing this...Are there warranty issues as per PCNA that would void my car warranty ? Thanks

ps: just curious if anyone who has done this, did their dealer requires PCNA approval ?

You will love it. Change to a 8:40 pinion/crown while your there. Should be no warranty problems but then I'm on a different continent.

Rockitman,

Ah, extremely happy. No remap, and I run 92 octane (mostly) The LW flywheel is definitely the way to go. And while you're at it add the 3.8RSR clutch. I can't answer the warranty issues question, it seems to be dealer dependent.
