GT3 Cup prep for '05 Daytona 24 hour
Here are a couple of interesting documents from Porsche Motorsports on preparing the Cup car for the 2005 Daytona 24 hour race. They are in MS Word .doc format. Thanks to Autometrics for the posting. Lots of information on race preparation, maintenance and various new Motorsports parts.

WOW!!!
When they mention GT3 RS do they mean the ROW GT3 RS or something else? Do they mean GT3 RSR? I would like to use that Carbon Airbox sheild and filter.
As well those bladed sway bars and replacing rubber parts with metal parts.

I think they mean, "RS" when they say, "RS". The GT3 RS being mentioned would be the predecessor to the RSR. It is for off-road use only and is not the street car that is unavailable in the U.S. The RSR is not legal in Grand Am.

Cosmos,
They are referring to the GT3 R(S)(R) race car, not the GT3 RS street car for homologation of the race car.

I re-read the documents and I don't understand why you say they are referring to the RSR. I can't fathom any reason why a PMNA produced document would repeatedly state, "GT3 RS"(Race car) if they were talking about the RSR. Surely they know the difference better than anyone else--although, I think they misspelled "heim" joint .
The RSR was homologated for ACO/ALMS, not Grand Am. The RSR is not legal in Grand Am. My understanding is that the parts being discussed are from last season's GT3 RS (race car).
The only mention to any RSR I saw in the documents was for the 993 RSR.
If you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you would explain what I have said that is incorrect.

Greg,
I think everything you said was accurate. I was just trying to differentiate for Cosmos between the race car and the street car. As you know the race car was the R, then the RS and now is the RSR. When RS is mentioned people think of the street car, which was done to homologate parts for the newest race car version the RSR. All of the parts mentioned came on the RS and also come on the RSR unless they have been superceded with something new (e.g. the sequential transmission). Sorry for the confusion.
Cosmos - The part number for the carbon fibre air box for the cup car is 996 -110-021-94 R - the R designates it as a race part so you can only buy it from PMNA. Price is around $1,150. You may need to get some additional parts to modify your intake system and you will need to modify your stock deck lid to make it fit so it has the desired effect of cold air forced directly into the engine.
