Default Aftemarket wheels

I have the factory Mk II wheels that came with my new Atlas Grey 2004 GT3. Since my first car a BMW, it has always been a habit of mine to swap the factory wheels for some aftermarket ones for better looks and handling. Now with the GT3, once again I have been itching to change the factory wheels. I'm thinking of staying with 18" wheels, which aftermarket wheels have you guys switch to if you had done so already? Offsets, spacers? Any pictures will be great!

Also, I love the looks of the Techart Formula wheels but a close friend of mine said that it wouldn't make sense to change to a heavier wheel when the factory wheels are lighter and stronger. Is this true?

I am going HRE competition wheels in stock 18" size but going 9/18 fronts, (up from 8.5), but staying 11/18 rear.

I am now just waiting for them to come out.

Kinesis K18R's, direct factory replacement. Identical offset, setback, etc. Somewhat lighter don't remember how much, The non R version would be even lighter. Either version would be stronger than the OE.

I'm keeping the OE wheels for street use, but will be using CCWs for the track. I used CCW on my 400-hp RX-7, and was more than satisfied with the several year's use I got out of them. They are presently designing the wheels to accommodate the offset and rotors of the front.

Cosmos, why are you going with fronts wider than stock? Any clearance problems?

I want a little more contact patch up front. No clearence issues that I know of.

I am running a 245 now on the 8.5" wheel and just want the extra metal.

Couple of others here have gone that route and it seems to be working for them.
